he absorbed it through his hammer , and the spark was never explained it pretty much was a plot device

iirc thor once absorbed a blast that wold destroy half the universe through his hammer or somehting of that sort before

Wouldn't this mean Thor could easily defeat just about anybody that shoots energy blasts less powerful than a blast powerful enough to destroy half a universe? Makes no sense to me.

Yes thor could absorb and redirected a blast at some who is more power to kill them but hey that wouldn't be fun would much like SS Superman and a bunch of other character could kill someone but hey that would make a boring comic. It is called plot a being such of glory should well know that Mjolnir could do to an energy attack but he did it anyway much like when Thor forgets to use Mjolnir to absorb and energy attack in the first place and just use Mjolnir as a melee weapon

People are over thinking the spark thing. As far as I can tell, the spark was essentially the woman's prayer of hope reaching Thor. Glory was mostly a psychic based foe as far as I can tell and each of his attacks ate away at Thor spiritually, mentally etc. Near the end their, his will power was starting to give and so the spark gave him, for a lack of a better word, hope which was what he needed to give himself that extra push.

I highly doubt it was an amp. The more impressive stuff such as withstanding and absorbing his attack seemed to be all Thor/Mjolnir.

.

Lol, what? Gaea? Where the hell did you get that from? She was a regular mortal woman. Her spark was a prayer from her soul -for hope- that reached out to Thor.

Nrama: Here’s a nicely specific question from zvelf on our forums: “So in Chaos War #3, was that Zeus fighting Galactus or Mikaboshi fighting Galactus or did Mikaboshi only enter Zeus' body when Hercules beat Zeus?”

Van Lente: Greg?

Pak: I think that is Zeus fighting Galactus, but there is a point where Galactus says — I’m paraphrasing here — “Hey, you’re a little stronger than the average Skyfather.” So I think Zeus is definitely is being augmented by the Chaos King. The Chaos King, as we discover — spoiler alert! — is using Zeus as a Trojan horse. So some of that incredible power that Zeus is displaying comes from the Chaos King.

At the same time, Zeus is no pushover, and it’s been a while since we’ve seen Zeus unleash his true, mighty self, and it was a ton of fun giving him a chance to do that. So don’t take it all away from him, friend. I do love my Zeus. I’m going to start saying “Zounds” more often, as a matter of fact. Just in everyday conversation.

Pak basically comes out and says Zeus was only slightly amped against Galactus. So Zeus having the combined power of Mikaboshi and so on is not the case. Good showing for Zeus. On top of it all, doesn't Athena have his thunderbolt which would make his base weaker? I remember reading that somewhere.

Not a bad showing for Galactus either (He got up after a page or two) unless you think their is a large gap between him and Skyfathers which I've never believed to be the case. At least when it comes to Odin.

And if Ares was legitimately himself -which I believe he was- his comment about Zeus unleashing his own true power supports that it was mostly Zeus.

From all I've seen, I'd guess it was their durability that was amped more than anything. Perhaps with the destruction of death being the biggest factor.

Galactus sure is lucky this wasn't a possessed Odin though. 😄

yea i agree with this, although if death actually fled the "universe" then the 616 is basically like the cancerverse now

even if athena has his "divine" bolt she hasnt shown anything near the power of zeus, all you see is that she is able to create lightining now

Ugh, this Chaos King is getting pretty annoying. Just call him Mikaboshi. The guy is the dark/void of space, not chaos. Pak can be stupid sometimes. LOL, I'm the chaos and chaos >>>> the devil. I'z win!

**** Pak for ruining the character. The guy should just remain in his adopted attire/appearance and name. Not some cliche title that has no relevance/relation to his origin. Chaos =/= void/darkness

Dumbass!

"Now die by Chaos King!" LMAO WTF GFTO PAK!

actually in myth thats exactly what chaos is

I guess Pak just doubted Mikaboshi on his own, being a powerful Shinto God, could headline this event and this much power.

It's a shame, because the way Oeming and Pak set him up in Ares and Secret Invasion was enough for me. I wanted to see Mikaboshi. Cool design. Cool speaking. Just really different from what you usually see. Chaos King's design is like the staple design for every generic dark, shadowy, amorphous, sadistic/nihilistic baddie that's been used from Shadow King to Venom to Hunger. Bleh.

At least Athena's role in this has perked my interest.

👆 Apart from the Athena.

in an interview they said they planned for mikaboshi to be like this long ago before even the ares mini, its not something new that they thought to do
so they planned for this since mikaboshi's first showing in a comic

athena is a mastermind, she may be even smarter than thanos since she build a device that was going to recreate the 616 universe

Who cares.

I assumed that was Zeus' power separate from the lightning bolt. IRCC, when Zeus died, Athena gained his bolt of power. And I know I've read somewhere he gets weaker without it. Doesn't necessarily mean that Pak considers him to be weakened however.

It's just something I thought was worth noting.
