So as of this episode, something has been bothering me: What are Bolin and Mako still doing here?

I mean, their goal has basically been taken from them, they don't have any real personal beef with Amon, and aside from being Korra's(and Asami's) friends, I don't see why they're around. I mean...they suck at fighting. And unlike the case with Katara and Sokka, they don't serve the purpose of helping Korra adjust to the world or anything like that. Why are they still here, aside from being a pathetic love interest and comic relief? They've lost most of their purpose in the story.

Well, they're Korra's friends and now live with her at Tenzin's place. So it's not that big a stretch they end up cought in all the craziness. And now it's personal for Mako. But yeah, it's no the same as the original group.

When Extremes Meet.

Team Avatar is BACK!

Yeah I'm not going to lie, that's pretty lame lol.

Do you ever tire of being lame and having crap taste Aura? 😛

They're driving around in a kickass hotrob fighting crime! How awesome is that! Now Mako is really Batman.

It's called trying too hard. 😛

And lets not kid ourselves, Flying Bison>Naga>>>>Car.

but you gotta love how Naga basically said "phuck that" when they all tried riding her.

It amuses me that Asami is just that heavy. Naga seemed to be doing just fine with 3 people.

Naga's clearly front heavy. That extra weight probably threw off her balance.

All I'm gonna say is Masami ftw. That is all.

I s it just me or is Asami the only one out the bunch that is legitimately resourceful? I mean when you look at it, Korra doesn't really need Mako or Bolin in her quest...though the latter is pretty darn entertaining.

Kind of ironic and a tad sad.

Its just you. Korra and Mako were very resourceful when they tracked down Bolin and rescued him by sabotaging pipes. And Bolin used Pabu to escape, which was clever of him.

The three were also resourceful enough to take down a police officer. Sure he was underestimating them, but they still made him look foolish.

Talked to a friend today and managed to convince him to watch Korra.

He doesn't want to see all that relationship stuff. It is pretty lame.

Jesus, people really have low-tolerance for romantic sub-plots, huh?

When it takes up entire episodes so close to the beginning of the series and the original didn't include them so much until later on, yeah. I wouldn't mind it if they built it up more before just throwing it out there.

To be fair, Korra was supposed to only be like 13 episodes or something right? That episode was probably left over from that schedule.
