They have never shown to be that fast.And if nothing else the fact that besides the powers they use Earth physics and you can't go Light speed or FTL using Earth physics.
second, you do realize that as they upgrade, its not just their energy powers and strength that increase exponentially, it is also their speed
considering even the lowliest dbz characters can dodge bullets, and that super saiyans are several logarithmic times faster...it isn't at all far-fetched to say that they approach ftl reflexes
