I think heading back, now we know what to look for, and I don't want to get caught out in the open with a bunch of Orcs.

Ok, so, you have two possible leads:

1. The presence of Dunlendings- not in of itself highly suspicious, but their behaviour may have been.

2. Someone is hunting livestock around here, and hardly delicately. Palidan theorises it may be Orcs.

Thoughts?

Is it possible Orcs and Dunlendings could be working together?

That's very well known- the Orcs form Angmar helped the Dunlendings take Rhudaur. The Witch-King has more or less gained the allegiance of the Dunlendings, though 'alliance' may be a better term.

Is it too early to predict some form of major raiding party?

Prediction is no good- it was guessing that has you searching here in the first place. You need to find evidence that the Orcs are in the Downs.

Then I think we all head to where Palidan was looking.

Well, Palidan has nowhere specific to look as of yet, but he wants to see what is hunting animals around here. Any ideas on how to make good use of that?

Ellothiel's familiar?

Always a good start for a straight Tracking search but it won't actually solve the whole thing single-handed. Or pawed.

We should find what there is to hunt in there area, so that we can wait and see who comes to take it.

Looking for the Dunlendings is also a viable option. How do you guys want to do it?

I would use Ellothiel's familiar to locate 'prey' and then move in that direction.
