in Astonishing Thor, he is travelling through the solar system in a matter of what appears to be minutes. Certainly faster than "hyperspace". It might be reasonable to conclude this approachs light-speed, though it doesn't look like he can he can go from 0 to ls instantly. lol, Im really not familiar with the character though
EDIT: marvel hyperspace: http://marvel.wikia.com/Glossary:Hyperspace

It also done by his hammer. Iz brought up more then enough evidence in my opinion to question if it thors speed really or simply the hammer.
forgive me if I'm wrong, but a huge number of Thor's powers come from his hammer, do they not? doesn't his alter ego need the hammer to transform even? (god, does he still have an alter ego?)

Sorry to say this but you are wrong.
Thor powers come from him, the hammer is just a better source on channeling and concentrating that power.

Carver's actually correct in this statement.
Thor's said plenty of times, especially in the previous volume, that Mjolnir is a tool, a powerful tool, but a tool nonetheless. Mjolnir acts a focusing lens for his natural power and ability and is backed up by multiple instances of canon panels and stories.

Sorry for the delayed response Izie. I've been kind of lazy and only recently started collecting writer opinions. Already got two. 🙂
"Izie?" Lol, someone's feeling smug. Well, let's hope those writers don't discredit themselves by claiming that Mjolnir doesn't have the "power to spin superfast." Cuz... we've seen that it does... I await your post with bated breath.
