Yeah, the US, France, the UK, Germany and everyone else against Libya. It's going to be up there with the other two.

There will be three main powers in this world war: the Western Powers, Libya, and the Abstaining Powers who will quietly urge the Western Powers to stop making Libya hit itself.

At this point I wouldn't have been surprised if he finished by raising his fist to the sky and yelling "Hail Cobra!!"
😆

No, you are correct, though they we do allow military installations on our ground to be used and apparently are trying to get more troops to Afghanistan to free up some for the Nato. But yeah, I'd say in general Germany is on the side of the coalition, even if it doesn't want to participate.

Does anyone think threatening Gadhafi with "dire consequences" makes the G8 look anything less than pathetic? It might not be our fight, but what is the point of threatening him at all if we aren't going to do anything?

This is like Obama telling him that "Gadhafi must step down." And then doing nothing to help that happen. Either shut your mouth, or back up your talk, but this makes us look really weak, in my humble opinion. As many people are dying in Libya as died in Japan, and we have the power to stop this one.

Is a tough issue: I agree its not the US's war, but the world is seriously sitting back and letting another genocide happen while we wring or hands.
Thoughts?

hehe..interesting one

oops double post. love internet

Who's the fat-chick? Better not be one of his AG.

I bet you'd also like some new jeans.

So it looks like the rebels are gaining momentum again.

It is a bit depressing though that if not for the foreign intervention there'd probably be public executions of rebel leaders in Benghazi right now.

So much for the hope that an oppressed civilian population could successfully rise up against a tyrant supported by the country's military without outside help...

and then there is this:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/libya/8407047/Libyan-rebel-commander-admits-his-fighters-have-al-Qaeda-links.html

America helps found al-Qaeda, then fights al-Qaeda, then aids al-Qaeda.

Cool.

i know.. there never is an easy answer, is there?

Well, this is a different time. Technology has gotten to the point where never again will it be possible for an out-gunned army to beat a stronger one in conventional warfare.

That's almost always been the case though.

Look at the American Revolution. In the early years the Rebels got wrecked pretty much every time they met the Redcoats on the field on their own terms. While conversely guerrilla fighters using Indian tactics had much better success. It wasn't until late in the Revolution that the Americans became a good enough military to actually challenge the British on the field and match if not beat them.
