Conclusion: McClane hit the cables he was aiming for. It's a great ****ing shot; especially with a snubnose. Note the time on each frame, all are 2:13.
Let the downplaying of McClane commence, it's typical.
Oi, blind man.
This is McClane we are talking about, in a scenario situation, of sorts. In a straight gun fight in an open-in closed space like an arena or some such. He might go down to Hit Girl, but in a scenario such as this. If he knows he can't win head on on, he'll lock him self in a safe and blow the place with a crude explosive and ride out the blast like Doctor Jones in a fridge.

Fail.
Yes, Mac's intention was to shoot loose the cables. Observe:
The cables are clearly shown attached to a relay box. Mac let's loose TWO shots from about 30 feet away, and:
The relay box explodes, and the cable falls.
He did NOT shoot the cable. Now, you wanna see uber marksmanship? FF to :40
Hit Girl reloads, caps a guy to her left. Then she looks right and sees another about 20 feet away. Between he and she are a buncha fallen metal girders. She raises her weapon and fires. The bullet strikes the man and kills him. She shot through a space of a few inches at a target that was running sideways and hit it dead center.
THAT'S uber marksmanship.

John McClane wins this, hands down.
Mac ends up face down.
More uber marksmanship:
Riggs makes a smily face on the paper target form about FIFTY yards away.
Just sayin' 😖hifty:
K, this thread went on for four pages already.
I don't want to buy the Blu-Ray, but if someone can point me to a high definition free version of Kickass, I'll calculate the speed of the bullets that Hit Girl dodged. My estimations are that those bullets are much slower than real bullets and Hit Girls dodging feats are similar to dodging blaster bolts.
My visual estimate of those bullets is around 100 Mph.
I will spend a massive hour measuring and calculating out the speed...I just need a high definition video to review. I don't feel like searching the shit out of the net and I'm DEFINITELY not going to buy the Blu-Ray.

haermm I could do the same thing for the dog scene in Equilibrium.Bullets travel fast, dude. In all movies. They travel the same speed in Die Hard, In Lethal Weapon, and in Kickass.
No they don't. 😬
Some movies, they travel really fast. Other movies they travel really slow.

In movies that are based here on Earth, in modern times with modern weaponry (Die Hard, Lethal Weapon, Kick Ass, Desperado, etc), bullets travel as fast as they do in real life. They do not travel 1150 fps in one movie, then 250 fps in another.
In real life, 9mm bullets travel between 1000 and 1500 fps. Therefore in this matchup, they travel just as fast.
