what about during prep? that's the logical place where time traveling would most likely be exploited

The prep will get posted tonight, but if it means anything, I did my best to make sure that all my time-stuff was in keeping with the spirit of the law. My characters never leave the time they're in, there is no time-duplicate crap, or using time-manip to give myself extra prep time, or unstoppable time attacks or anything like that. Anyway, I suspect most of the stuff we'll debate will not be about time-travel.

afaik I banned it outright. I can see nothing but headaches if any form of time travel were allowed....

I might have changed that given the "no interfering with the other team during prep" rule (my memory isn't awesome), and to say the least, rules up to this point have been more like heuristics, lol. I haven't read simbon's prep in full yet, but it doesn't look like there are clear violations (though I probably shouldn't speak of it at all)

it can't be more complex than the cable issues though

i'm not aiming at simbon specifically, just want to know if there was a different application of time manip in prep as opposed to what you can do on the battlefield

No. Obscure comic picks. Letting manga characters in tournaments has only been a fairly recent development and even then most of the participants don't really know too many manga characters.

Hey, one of the first tourneys was open to characters from any genre there is, even real life. That would be fun.

I think I've kept that consistent...

I think the only exception I've made is for time travel teleportation

That's a really neat idea. I think it might also be cool to run a "science tourney", where there was a ton of prep time and participants were only allowed to draft scientists.

You haven't been around long enough. I'm pretty sure Delph has gone through 7+ picks in a row 😂
Yeah, I've gone through like 5 or so.

That would be amusing, but it would probably be way too confusing for me to get involved with.

lol, to save everyone's time, you can just name me champion of that right now

Cooler idea: that, but you have to draft real scientists. I call tesla!

The biggest headache with tourneys, beyond organizing judges or hashing out drafts, is trying to deal with copious amounts of prep time and having contestants really test the type of bullshit they get away with. I remember Leo and I had a match with something like many years of prep and each independently created universe busting something or others.

So a science tourney sounds hilarious and fun, providing a novel opportunity to exploit the abilities of the hundreds of mad scientists in comics. It also sounds like a concentration of all the headache factor.

On the other hand, if that tourney is held, I'm assuming that Charlotte will enter and follow her usual MO of drafting an all female team, giving us the opportunity to refer to her as "Team ScienTits". I think that alone validates the whole tourney idea.

Unless I'm confusing this match - since admittedly we all go overboard at times - that was me vs Leo/Charlotte/and someone else (Newjak?). Leo had Reed Richards (ultimate version) that had a device that directed an entire universes energy - ala big bang - at me and I had Legion of Superheroes Brainiac create a device that stopped all energy in the universe.

lol, a real world science tournament might fail to live up to that, unfortunately...

I draft the guys who make modern German artillery with the guys who make "smart" shape charge munitions 😛

tesla has no feats

I think I might actually do it at some point. If so, though, I would impose power limits to avoid the universe-affecting stuff, and create incentives for people to use less abstract-level scientists, like M.O.D.O.K. and the like.
