PSN down due to hackers

Still don't think people understand that it wasn't just a network being down.

Information that could lead to identify theft was stolen. Much, much more severe.

what do you suggest would have been much more appreciative then?

Some games that are more currant. I really don't know but the games that have shown seem to be ones they don't really give a shit about.

Making the heart fall apology seem meaningless.

really?

All those games have gotten really good reviews... they don't care about them?

and nice to notice you're saying games.. as in plural 131

Truth is: This is about the downtime, for those who waited.

The way they handled sensitive information was atrocious, the attack was harmful to everyone... but it serves them right for the way they went about when the PS3 got jailbroken... and as such, I think anyone who feels affected by it should sue them (just like they try to sue many of their customers) for whatever they think their information is worth.

For those who stuck around waiting, they're giving this deal, somewhere about 30-40 $ worth of PS3 games... plus about the same amount on PSP games. (PSN+, movies, music can be irrelevant...) for free. It's a PR thing, since they're not legally obligated to give anything away

It would have been better if they just refund money to everyone wallets so you could spend it in whatever, but that isn't good business. They keep the investment within first Parties, and also raise interest in LBP2 and, most importantly, InFamous 2.
The deal is pretty much like store credit... they don't give you real money back, and the real money stays with them.

It's the same thing with the 30 days PSN "trail"... those who never bother may like the service and buy a membership...potentially increasing the number of subscriptions and generating revenue for SONY... 😐

They designed this offer as win-win situation for everybody.

Those who don't like it can: trade in their PS3s, never buy a SONY product again, sue them... or simply suck it up cuz they won't offer anything more

This actually sucks for those whom already own all 5 games... cuz they won't be getting anything at all (if they already own all psp games... or don't own a psp 😬 )

Seriously, getting hacked doesn't serve them because they went after a guy who was modding consoles. It's a criminal attack. It was to steal information. If they just wanted to piss off Sony, they could of done a straight up DoS attack.

You really think Sony gives a shit about the games mentioned? There past news, they got most of the money they would of gotten from them. Basically, they released those games for free knowing full well most people have played them already. This is fake attempt to make them look good.

It's the same as MS giving Halo 3 to customers. Its cool that it's a free game but the fact remains is that PSN has been down for a very long time and personal information was released to the public. It should be more than just some old games.

Don't be a child, Sony doesn't owe you a thing. It's not like they hacked their own systems or even purposely let their networks get hacked. The service is free, and now you have some games for free. Your quality of life doesn't decline any time PSN is down.

I'm certainly not a Sony fan and honestly I don't think Sony or any company that produces a console has the right keep people from modding their own consoles that they paid for. However Your entitlement complex is just too much.

Well, I don't really care about the games.

Just care that the message seems like a good one, but in reality, it's not.

The service is not free, when you buy a PS3, your entitled to that service.

I hope that also applies to people in Germany, I wanted to get both LBP and inFamous anyways.

Why do people always think this?

No, you aren't. When you buy a PS3, you are entitled to nothing more than the console you just purchased. It is a free additional service that you can live without just fine. Sony does not have to offer it, and they do not have to offer it for free, and they can change that whenever they want.

If people ever bothered to read the TOS that came with the system and every game and etc., they'd know this...

So, yeah, it goes for Germany, too.

**** YEAH!!

You read the ToS?

Of course she does, she doesn't want to be a Human CentiPad.

...Currently, there is no charge to create a Sony Online Services account, but there may be charges associated with certain online content or services available through Sony Online Services...

...

Unless as otherwise stated in this Agreement, SCEA, at its sole discretion, may indefinitely suspend, or discontinue any and all online access to content at any time, including for maintenance service or upgrades, without prior notice or liability...

...

SCEA, at its sole discretion, may modify the terms of this Agreement at any time, including imposing a fee for creating PSN accounts. By accepting this Agreement or by accessing Sony Online Services, you agree to be bound by all current terms of the Agreement...

So... we are getting free stuff, even when we agreed not to ask or expect anything

... and we're still getting PSN for free... even though we could be paying for it in the near future

I said "serves them right" as in "just deserts"
They tried to obtain the IPs of anyone who at the very least saw the code... even out of curiosity... they even try to brick any jailbroken PS3, even though they have no right to do so... if you haven't agreed to latest ToS that is

The attack hurt everyone though... it wasn't the way to go, but how do you stop whiney/childish hackers?

Sony: PlayStation Store to return May 24

Sony has told publishers to expect the PlayStation Store on May 24. That's according to a memo sent to various companies, which of course found its way to the proles of the Internet.

As previously revealed, Sony plans to update the Store multiple times per week. Content scheduled for April 26 will be included in the first update, followed by May 3's content three days later. The rest of the content will go live on May 31 and June 1.

Sony has told companies that they're willing to shift content around depending on urgency.

Do they not know about the rapture? Fools

This really bites balls.

I can't redeem my Mortal Kombat Online Pass code since that particular service is undergoing maintenance. I bought the game after the PSN crash and never registered.

So, splendidly, I can't play MK9 online.

I can't redeem my LA Noire vouchers because I can't get online. Somehow PSN doesn't recognized my password that I recently changed and also won't send me the e-mail that allows me to change it.

Bah. I never understood why MK9 required that kombat pass thing to be able to play online in the first place. Mortal Kombat vs DC didn't, not that it was a real good game anyway.

This probably has something to do with it:
