Well, the ghosts have a different view of time than we do. If they wizards sit there and LOL at them, then they will get old a and die, never leaving Hogwarts, otherwise they would die. By your logic, sitting in one place for 150 years not daring to leave or be killed immediately is a win.

Does being intangible cancel itself out? Like the ghosts are intangible, the wizards are intangible...so both parties can be touched?

More or less except the ghosts have one way intangiblity, which means the can destroy, yet cannot be destroyed.

The wizards basic options are:

1) Stay and get f***ed up royally.

2) Run away to their apparating place, forfeiting the match.
