Also, seriously, comparing Johns to BENDIS?

I have to ask people: Are you ****ing high? I don't wish to cause offence, but are people really comparing the guy who wrote GL Rebirth, Sinestro Corps War and Infinite Crisis to the dude who falls short on EVERY event he's ever written?

Yes, Johns hit a high with his Sinestro Corps books, but for me, Blackest Night was also a very good book, and his recent arc with Hal and Sinestro is as good as any of his "non-event" arcs on Green Lantern. I don't think he's losing his touch at all, and he's still to this day one of the few writers that for me, writes a believable romantic relationship.

Aquaman? He's written the character exceptionally well, with a bunch of little touches that really do add to the book. And the whole "public hating Aquaman" thing? It's not been a central plot since the second issue, and is now a sub-plot. And as far as it being necessary?

Hell yes. Most people still think Aquaman is lame. Johns said it himself that when he was telling people he was going to write Aquaman, they looked at him like he wasn't serious, and said "the guy that talks to fish?". I know people, people I respect that read comics, and when I mentioned that they should try Aquaman, the response was the same. Even people on THIS FORUM for the most part still think he's lame, and instead of just ignoring it like other writers have (and done well too), Johns is meeting it head-on, which is really what the character needed imo. He's never going to break this stigma around him until it's confronted and defeated.

As far as JLA goes:

I can understand why some people don't like it. You don't like how Darkseid is portrayed? Fair enough, but for me, this was a snapshot. A quick introduction that showed us why the League got together in the first place. The first four issues of the book were, to me, stellar, and it was only the last two that really dropped off (though I believe issue 6 was better than 5).

Someone mentioned Superman needing character development. Honestly, I don't agree. He's getting that in Action and Superman (to a lesser extent). Yes, they could have shown a bit more of his interactions with everyone, but for me, Superman needed one thing in JLA and one thing above all else: To make an impact. To show why he's considered the powerhouse of the team.

Johns did that in JL, and after two, three years of Robinson f*cking up Superman and making him stale as shit, we needed to see Superman just straight up kick some ass for once in his life. We got that.

And as far as dialogue goes, I honestly thought there was more good than bad over the course of the issues. He's not Bendis level. not nearly. He's far above it imo.

Bigger pic of SHAZAM.

Kahina the Seer from The Other League.

Jay Garrick?

Geoff Johns speaks about SHAZAM.

😂

If that is Jay, he definitely gets the prize for worst costume of this event. He looks like a Pym/Spidey/Flash amalgam. 👇

I dig it. I think PG's is much worse.

yeah im definitely upset with jays outfit. Although I like the hood on Cap!

horrible

Still not as lame as Supes w/jeans, T-Shirt & minicape.

^When someone who shouts everything about superman is LAME at any chance he gets, his opinion hardly matters on something about superman after awhile.

Johns is an exceptional writer, but I don't think Bendis is that bad I think people like to pick on him. I loved some of his stuff on Mighty Avengers and early New Avengers, that scene were Maria Hill fires that SHIELD Agent for making a joke was possibly the funniest scene I have seen in comics.

*sigh* Maybe I'm overreacting but I'm really feeling this DC might be dropping some more Marvel titles.....

Can't please everyone, looks fine to me

That Flash looks like Johnny Quick of the Crime Syndicate of America

^ Yeah, he's a dead ringer. Are we sure the pic Prep posted isn't Earth 2 Flash?

I have a feeling it will be Jay to be honest.

Prisoner Of War

When Ivan, Joe and I spoke about Prisoner-Of-War with our editor Pat McCallum we went back and forth quite a bit. We wanted this soldier, this man who was held captive for years and the only survivor of his squad, to be and feel like a faceless victim of war. One who was now fighting for his freedom and identity. But his identity is clouded by the mysterious powers he gained after his fellow soldiers were killed. The shackles he wears are golden like Aquaman’s trident, but a source of another power. When we meet Prisoner-Of-War he is a far cry from the man he once was…or will be.

Green Arrow finally looks awesome!

I might be inclined to agree with New Avengers, but being a Hank Pym fan, I think Mighty was just a bitter piece of work.

I dunno tbh. The reboot of Ollie is one of the few things about this new DCU that I disagree with.

edit.

I did find it funny in the Green Arrow reboot he fought villians based off of Alpha Flight. He reminds me way to much of Conner now.
