I think a lot of people forget the Amazons of myth sucked. They were intended as a one-note strawman to show a misogynist point on how horrible it'd be if women were warriors.
I don't feel they fit anywhere near WW. After all, how does a culture like that produce someone like WW? The Nu52 WW might be a bit harsher than the old one, but she may as well be from a different universe from her amazons, because there's no way she came from that culture.

Try living in a society into your 20s without learning how they reproduce or their views on related matters (I guess her mom never gave her 'the talk'😉. Think about it- she'd grow up with friends who've probably gone on the rape-murder voyagers by now.
And Nu52 Diana is a demi-goddess, hasn't had *too* much focus truth yet I think, but there hasn't been anything that says that's why she's so different in attitude (and the Nu52 greek gods can be pretty horrible anyway).
It's noteworthy that it's not that she knew of it and was rebelling against it; Diana's not Scott Free, who knew all about his culture and rejected it. Diana just didn't even know, and just-happened to grow up opposed to central parts of her culture without realizing that's what she's doing.
It's mind-boggling.

I believe he actually means power level, since this is not the first time he mentions how powerful Aquaman is in an interview.
I also believe that we will have a pretty clear picture after the ToA event.
I'll comment more when I read JL 16, but even from the preview pages I believe it's evident that AQ should be getting consideration for being around WW level.
And it also comes back to Johns consistently showing AQ at that level, in line with JLA: Crisis of Conscience, Flashpoint, Aquaman, Infinite Crisis (taking on his entire rogues gallery including the Deep Six and "killing" King Shark), and every other time AQ was written by Johns.

Yeah it would make sense to have some sort of tp blast or something. Like he tried to do to the Trench leader.
