DCU gets remade - all books are #1s, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee on Justice League, more

Nothing will change under the current system, not unless comics, other than big name/movie-related ones, experience a massive surge in popularity.

The 90s were bad, but at least we had Vertigo 😐

With that logic we should just publish Spider-man, Batman and Superman books...

Well, most of Marvel's books are Spider-Man, Avengers, or X-Men related. DC is going the same way, but slower.

Yeah, but Marvel sucks.

Standalone minis are where the quality is found on Marvel.

Look at almost any Marvel book that didn't get to finish its main run, and that's where you'll find the quality, lmao.

Looks like Villains month is a smash.

Doesn't change the fact that the majority of the issues are garbage.

True. Any company that spawned disgraces like Kang and Ultron can't be good.

Great job at dissing Jack Kirby, he was certainly a chump.

I'm curious how much will be retained. The event itself is the easy part, so to speak!

Have you read Hawkeye or Daredevil? They are great at the moment!

FF is really fun too. And Scarlet Spider is a great comic.

And a lot of the Marvel books are, I'd say, at least ok-to-good (both X-Forces are good, for example), but they have a handful of fantastic ones.

^ And Thor God of Thunder, Avengers, New Avengers, FF, Superior Spider-Man, Captain America, Young Avengers, All New X-Men, X-Men are all good, if not great.

And Avengers Arena blows them all out of the water. Yes. Even Thor God of Thunder.

Interesting. You have convinced me to read.

^ First issue is solid but nothing at all unexpected considering the premise of the series -- unless you completely missed the initial uproar and fan backlash over it all. It's every issue thereafter that's been spectacular.

I read the first issue a while ago, but didn't bother reading afterward(I found it mediocre.)

However, your hype(which is usually substantiated) has made given me the green light to DL the rest of the issues. They'd better be good. sly

Parkers talks Aquaman. Parker excels in big sci fi stuff. Glad he mentioned this.

But there is a pretty cool monster fight coming up right off the bat! [Laughs] I felt like that was a natural for him. With Aquaman, you can do big, fantastic stuff -- big sci-fi or big fantasy. For some reason, it all works with him. So I want to take advantage of as much of that as I can.

Outside of X-Force, X-Men has been pretty ****ing poor, tbh.

I dunno, while I agree the X-Force books are the best, Brian Wood on X-men is a really good writer, the young crew showing up is kinda fun, Wolverine & the X-men has been consistent, and A+X has a lot of fun one-shots.

I don't even like X-Force anymore. I heard the newest x-crossover is good, though.

^ Uncanny X-Force has lost my interest since moving away from Fantomex. Cable and X-Force is pretty to look at, but beyond the cameos, I just don't care about Hope or Cable. Battle of the Atom is surprisingly good though.

That's why he's still alive, huh?

No but seriously, acting like one company is better than the other right now is cute. Both have good series, both have bad series. But this month really sucks dick for DC since they dropped the ball here big time.

Marvel is probably at its best in a while. They just need to stop having Bendis exist.

That's quite the opinion tbh.

I've been following Avengers Arena since it came out, and while it's fun, I don't think it's actually good. srug

Marvel's good with planning. Authors don't drop suddenly, so you can count on the story you're reading probably being completely, and they like to make sure you have options. "Oh, you don't like this? Then maybe you'll like this instead!"

They've got both dark and light books, serious and fun, genuinely heroic or very anti-hero style. They seem to design their line with the idea that no-one's going to get everything, so they do a wider variety of tones than DC. Different books for different people.

As I've seen someone say, DC has some good authors, but it's hard to have good books when they keep coming and going all the time.
