I like what Morrison does when he flexed his metatextual muscles. Wish I could elevate him to a higher level, but he had that one Batman run...
Morrison's Batman run is, imo (I'll add this so I don't get torched), in the top 5 superhero runs of all time (my personal favorite, actually). What didn't you like about it?

the son(nix uotan) becomes the father(rox ogama/mandrakk)..?
It seems to play with the idea that the longer even a young, hopeful Monitor (*cough* us *cough*) is exposed to the ones 'behind' space/time who have no rules/laws governing them, the more he becomes hateful and judgemental.
"We want you to give up your dreams. We want you to abandon hope. We want you like us. [...] It will become so bad you may wish to die or commit suicide. But the anti-death equation will return you to this condition. Indefinitely."
i.e. even the young, imaginative ones, "the last of your kind - the wonder boy" eventually becomes corrupted.
Maybe. Unlike Rox Ogama, he may be turned back.
