DCU gets remade - all books are #1s, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee on Justice League, more

I Vampire is supposed to crossover with some super villains and Super-heroes of the DCU. At least that is what the writer said in his interview. It's just not right away.

^ Exactly. I, Vampire will crossover mainly so we as readers know it is connected with the new 52. However, Failkov has made it clear that he wants his characters/stories to be stand-alones for the most part- and I really hope he holds true to that. I like the idea of not having Superman, GL, WW, Flash, etc. showing up in every other issue to save the day. /shrug

Plus, that's how the original series was. It was still part of mainstream DC, but it used the 'well-knows' very sparingly.

I'm more of a traditional "superhero" kind of comic book reader, but I'll check out I, Vampire based on the positive reviews I'm hearing.

I think I vaguely remember Bennett teaming up with Batman in an old issue of Brave and the Bold or Detective. So they were always part of the DCU.

his first cross over is with John Constantine. Who's excited? 😄

I'm curious, did any of you guys manage to convince new readers who were interest in comics but intimidated by jumping into the middle of a long and sorted history to get on board for the relaunch. If so, what are their opinions on it. I got my sister to start reading, but she is already confused by the multiple Batman and Superman books, and I think she'll go back to just reading manga.

You should probably wait until she gets to kindergarten, then.

lawl

She's 19.

The other day she was asking me "Wait the Joker in Arkam was really Nightwing? So... how did they cut off his face if it was a hologram mask?" I can understand two first issue Batman stories both of which involved Joker being in Arkam coming out weeks apart but in one is the real Joker and in the other is Dick disguised as Joker undercover being confusing for someone who doesn't read comics.

I don't mean to sound bitchy, but: There are three books with Superman in them. Action, Superman and JLA. Action is set at the start of his career, Superman is set in the present day, and JLA is in the middle, at the formation of the League.

I honestly don't see how that would be confusing.

Batman now, ok, that one's a bit iffy.

My sister isn't reading Superman, I just lumped him in with Batman because he also has multiple stories happening simultaneously.

oh. uhuh

Batman has more stories than anyone in the new 52 anyway; not a good starting point.

Hehe. But Batman is the coolest, that's what everyone wants to read. He wears black, or didn't you know? 😎

2 of my friends are former comic book readers who went back to the relaunch. They've enjoyed it so far.

I think she is going to drop everything except Batgirl, Batwoman and BoP tbh.

I got one of my best friends who was more of a casual reader to get into the Trinity line of books from the relaunch.

The New Guardians was one of the less eventful comics I've read in a while.

George Perez is already off Superman, with Keith Giffen taking over writing and Dan Jurgens the interiors as of issue #7.
