Another artist on writing duty. Who is in charge of these decisions at DC?
They've done it before, with some success I might add.

I'm well aware that they've done it, they're doing it right now, on half a dozen high profile books. The only one that I thought was legitimately good was the Flash, and that is because I gave it a pass thanks to Manapul's art which is enough for me to over look Manapul's writing.

Which is crazy as hell.I remember when I was psyched for JMS' run on Superman (and WW) based off of his stellar run of Thor.
I then remember being disappointed. 🙁
JMS, Robinson, even guys like John Byrne.
Perez's first issue was okay though. Sad to see him going after only seven. Unless of course the next one sucks.
The IGN comics podcast goes in depth with all problems with the Superman #1, around the halfway mark. Sounds like the are dropping the book until Keith Giffen comes on with the second arc. I didn't think the issue was great but, I didn't think it was nearly as bad as these guys do. Wonder if Perez was forced of the book for quality issues.

There are roughly four pillars for the DC relaunch - Grant Morrison on Action Comics, Geoff Johns on Justice League and Green Lantern, Scott Snyder on Batman (Though Aquaman's sales succes is largely dependent on Geoff Johns and Ivan Reis, I wouldn't put it on that level of importance). They're the driving forces on the most successful franchises in comics (who unsurprisingly were the three titles who got over 200k and 100k sales - GL, respectively). If one of them leaves (especially Grant Morrison from Action Comics, as far as I'm concerned), then we can say that the line got a hit. Creative changes on books that weren't very good to begin with - like Green Arrow, are practically inconsequential.
I like George Perez' Superman, and I have even more respect for him to see that he actually put effort into what he wrote. With that said, I think Morrison and Keith Giffen will collaborate much better, since from what we've seen Keith is a fan of Grant Morrison's work, and they've already collaborated on the 52 series. Coincidentally or not, the moment Keith Giffen takes over Superman, is also the moment Action Comics catches up with present day (#7). This is a change for the better, imo.

They never happened.
