Did you see the prologue? What kind of impressions did you get from it?

And TDKR has a strong chance to be nominated for best picture.

Nah, at this point I can wait until the movie. I've been trying to limit my pre-exposure with Avengers, Dark Knight and Amazing Spider-ma as much as possible before seeing it.

Even if TDKR is amazing and even better than Begins (which was the best live action Batman to-date) I don't see Batman being nominated for best picture. Sit down and look at the movies that were nominated last year. Now think about what wasn't. It's a ****ing disgrace. The academy is so out of touch. Moneyball and The Descendants? As if Hugo, Warhorse and the Tree of Life weren't meh enough, somebody thought Moneyball and The Descendants were best picture worthy? Are you kidding me? Clooney and Pitt up for best actor? Gosling was better in Ides of March then either those two... and that wasn't even his best performance of the year. Every single time Clooney's character is called upon to emote in The Descendants... the movie cuts away to something else. There is barely anything resembling acting in that movie. Makes me furious. Take Shelter was better than everything that got a best picture nom last year, same with Drive.

So far 4,375 theater counts. If it gets 12,000 or so screens this could break records.

The most for theater counts was by Eclipse with 4,468.

There are moments in The Dark Knight Rises that generate a furious surge of emotion that The Avengers and The Amazing Spider-Man combined couldn’t muster. But even at its most heated, the movie remains elegantly cool.

Madagascar 3 on over 4k screen. That is disgusting.

The Dark Knight Trilogy Smashes Ticket Sales Record

Default The Dark Knight Rises Breaks BFI IMAX Booking Record!

Box Office Preview: 'Dark Knight Rises' Earns Massive $25 Mil in Advance Sales

LOS ANGELES, July 19, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Fandango reports that "The Dark Knight Rises," on the eve of its opening weekend, is outpacing the summer blockbuster "The Avengers" in ticket sales at the same point in the sales cycle. The final chapter of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy has sold out on Fandango more than 2,000 showtimes nationwide and it's currently on track to become one of Fandango's top-selling movies of all time.

One person who's going to the midnight screening said that the line is approaching 900 to 1,000 people. This could very well break DH2 for midnight screenings.

I saw him at midnight, and this movie is the shit.

I, personnaly, prefered The Avengers, but The Dark Knight Rises kicks epic amounts of asses too.

It kicked ass. Probably my favorite superhero film to date.

I agree.

TDKR had its flaws, most notably the ending and final resolution for the characters, but it was very solid and enjoyable.

Goooood!! Can't wait to watch this tonight!

So there this weekend for TDKR, just like I was for Avengers. Both movies to me kick ass. I think TDKR is gonna have a better plot, while Avengers takes the cake for action.

Both of them are jampacked with actions.
TDKR has a better plot.
But I had more fun overall with the Avengers, and this is why I take him a little bit over TDKR.

But don't get me wrong, TDKR is crazy ****ing awesome too.
Honestly, I have a hard time to choose between The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises. It's that good.

And Tom Hardy's Bane is, IMO, on par with Heath Ledger's Joker.

I have been seeing a lot of different reactions to this. Like the best ending this year (by critics as well), to it was disappointing, to best super hero film to date, to not as good as TDK, or best of the trilogy, etc...

I'd think TDKR is an overall better film, with better acting, cinematography, directing, plot, etc...

Hardy brought a visceral physicality to Bane that I have never seen in any other villain before. Each pose and movement belayed power and menace. Yet, I wouldn't say he was on par with Legder's Joker as he wasn't as fun plus his voice was a little goofy. Still, he was excellent and should at least get a nomination.

Does Batman end up dying/sacrificing himself? Yes or no.

(put your answer in spoiler tags please.)

Spoiler:
He fakes his death.
