The Avengers vs. The Dark Knight Rises (opening nite & wknd)

Started by Prep-Man29 pages

Foreigners love complex movies. French New Wave? Italian realism?

TAS box office is not going to compare to TDKR. There was hardly anyone in the cinema at an 8:30 showing..

Maybe people are waiting until the weekend.

However I loved TAS. I want loads of sequels!

And let's not forget there wasn't much hype for Batman Begins either, yet look at the hype we have now for the third movie of the series.

I hear France's numbers aren't so great and he's the number one hero over there.

HOWEVER, I hear TAS is over performing, so that's a plus.

The marketing for TDKR is in full swing, btw....

Some other cool ones...

i am looking forward to this

Geoff Boucher wrote from his twitter:

I think it's better in some ways. The last 15mins are just unbelievable

So, that is like the 5th person or critic that has said it's even better than TDK. This will be #1 on IMDB's top 250 movies. 😉

Awesome new poster

And I thought this was cool.

I hope it's true!

TDKR will open with 15,000 screens internationally. That's 4000 more than TDK.

Hot damn! Standing ovation. Everything is pointing out that it will top TDK!

Why do I have no desire to see this Batman movie? I'm worried that there's something wrong with me. I usually want to see all the comic book movies, but this one doesnt even look good in my opinion. Oh well, i'm sure i'll go and see it anyways.

My friend has the same opinion as yourself. I think it's because they have hardly shown any footage. They want to keep most of the surprises tight lipped. But make no mistake, once you sit and the movie starts, it will blow pretty much anyone out the water. Christopher Nolan has yet to make a bad movie. Here is another tweet I found:

It's official. #TheDarkKnightRises is ****ing amazing. It received a standing ovation from the screening this morning (all critics).

"All I can say is....be ready to be hit REAL hard in The Dark Knight Rises. Very emotional and powerful. Blows TDK out of the water."

Here is the official write up by TheShape:

Here we go. Before I start, I can't handle the questions. I'm not answering them. I'm not spoiling the movie for anyone. No PMs with spoilers.

Having said that, HOLY MOLEY DEPUTY COMMISSIONER FOLEY, this is a great film. It's not a summer blockbuster by any means, and yet, it totally is (if that makes sense). The biggest question everyone asks: "is it better than TDK?" and I'll answer that by saying it's really different. Everything's different. The characters are different (even Bruce at first), the tone is different, and the story is different. But everything is BIGGER and, in my eyes, better. I love the Joker as much as anyone else (my favorite villain in any medium) but Bane's plan is more creative, better executed, and a little more fun to watch as it all unfold.

I also don't want to get into story specifics because there's really no need, but listen...if you've followed this forum like I have and read most of the "spoilers" over the past few months, I can tell you that many of us have guessed correctly on many of the various story tidbits that have come our way. Still, that doesn't make this film any less exciting to watch and there are PLENTY of surprises still in store (scenes, moments, plot points). I beg you all: DON'T READ SPOILER REVIEWS. You're all so close! Why would you want to read specific quotations and the fates of characters and the film's ending? I'll never understand that.

Critics give the Dark Knight Rises a standing ovation.

According to a critic who is quoted by Marco Gennuso on Twitter, The Dark Knight Rises is good enough to win Best Picture. Gennuso supposedly overheard the critic saying that “[i]f this does not break the mold and win Best Picture, no comic book movie ever will.”

I've got all my midnight premier ticket already, but IMO all the trailers have been abysmal.

Every critic, but one has said this is the best of the trilogy. And every critic has said nothing but positive things about it. Here is another:

Savages is great, vintage Stone. Spider-Man is okay. The Dark Knight Rises is brilliant. I think the Dark Knight Rises was the most powerful experience of the year for me. Watched the development hell on the first one. And now I've seen the true potential of that character. Superheroes aren't my bag, but still great filmmaking. I saw so many people walk away from Batman with a destroyed soul. Christopher Nolan conquered it. The simple fact is that they did it.

If this movie will have a huge emotional appeal to the audience, the WOM will be insane and records will be broken. Maybe.

Stopped reading after the first three words. If I ever met someone and they told me they liked Savages... I would immediately punched them square in the throat, and then any onlookers would cheer, and having hosted me onto their shoulders they would proceed to carry me to the nearest bar where I would be lauded as a hero who forever drink free. I assume later in the quote the reviewer mentions how much he liked TDKR... unfortunately he liked Savages and his opinion is less than worthless.

On an unrelated note, I just got back from seeing Savages after work.. it's a colossal piece of shit. I saw it for free and it wasn't worth the price. 😠

Yeah, the movie doesn't look all that. Oliver Stone is past his prime.

The Nolans and members of The Dark Knight Rises’ cast gathered here Sunday to discuss the making of the final film in their Batman trilogy. With Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan and his team set a new gold standard for superhero movies. Their latest picture cranks up the stakes with hellacious action sequences and deep character arcs that unify the entire Bruce Wayne/Batman saga with a richly satisfying payoff.
