It's pretty obvious he comes out to at least Gwen, unless the previews are purposely done to mislead us.

I'm fine with that though; if the rest of the film is great story/script/action/cgi, Peter's love-interest knowing his secret ID won't be some film-crushing moment.

Death of Gwen Stacy...will we see it?

As we all know Gwen this time around is gonna play a more important role in Peter Parker/Spidermans life, compared to her spiderman 3 portryal where she was just a girl he used to get back at MJ. So my question is this...do you think we're gonna see the death of Gwen Stacy? Remember her death was one of the most important parts of comic book and spiderman's history. I for one would love to see it happen, but I'd want it to be done in the last movie. I think it would make for a fantastic storyline and would really work well on screen. It's not often we see a superhero's girlfriend die, I'm counting comic book movies when I say this, I don't want people being like 'Well actually...'

'If the film doesn't do and follow EXACTLY what I want to see, it's going to be shit." *leaves mother's basement and goes upstairs to make some Hot Pockets.*

The ****ing trailer shows her talking to him while he'sall beaten up and stuff.

And frankly, I don't really care personally. She's his girlfriend. It's unrealistic that she wouldn't find out anyway. Very few Superheroes keep their identities secret from everyone. Even Batman, the iconic secret identity guy, doesn't hide it from Alfred. It's hardly soul-crushing to see that.

I'd imagine there would be, just have to see how this one goes I guess.

I can see you guys wouldn't care. But fact is it wouldn't be true to the comics, in which his path was a lonely one for a long time.

Where being Spiderman messes everything up for him including his love life. It's what made the comics so great.

On top of that they should stop repeating the same theme they have done for the last 3 movies now.

And Batman's completely different.

And btw I never once said the movie doesn't look good, or that I'l hate it for that one reason.

I don't care about it being true to the comics. Why is that important at all? It's not a comic book, it's a movie set within its own universe. If you want to see an exact rendition of the comic storyline than read the comics.

Him being Spiderman is going to mess up everything including his love-life. Gwen Stacy dies as a direct result of hi being Spiderman, remember?

Her knowing that he is Spiderman changes absolutely no part of that dynamic. And it's probable that once Mary Jane comes around, he'll hide his secret identity from her anyway.

Honestly revamping the entire series can go any which way.

It's been like what, more than five years since the last one came out? And there are alot of little kids out there that could care less about the past movies, some haven't even SEEN the past movies, they just wanna see Spidey kick ass. And since Disney took over Marvel, and their fan base is mostly kids, and Marvel is a big interest to kids, I figured there would be SOME kind of series reset for one of the major heroes. If they weren't gonna redo Spider Man I was gonna say The Hulk series or maybe trying their hand at redoing X-Men or something or some other big name.

I'd say remaking the series is a great move on Disney's part, not only will it gross billions and probably even more than the last movies, but I'm sure there will be some attempt to tie it in with Avengers and make sure the main actor playing Spidey is financially happy with his contract. Seeing as how they made sure to keep big names for Avengers from the previous movies, not including Mark Ruffalo, I'd say it's almost a guarantee that this movie will be right behind Avengers money wise in the box office.

No matter if this movie is true to the comics, true to the characters, or what have you, kids don't pay attention to that stuff, and neither do most movie goers. As long as it's flashy and exciting, sadly, it's gonna sell like crazy. That goes for any movie.

Spiderman has just been handed an enormous amount of pressure.. hopefully it can handle it

Not going to happen. It's Sony that has the movie rights for Spiderman.

A lot of people do. And the further they go from the comics the worse it usually ends up.

Examples Ang Lee's Hulk, Superman Returns and the worst of all Spiderman 3!

Remake, reboot, reimagining, re-cashin...

Call it what you will, but the Spidey reboot does look to have a lot of good things going for it from what I can tell.
The very first comic I ever read was 'The Punisher #69: Eurohit Part 6 of 7'.
This was significant as I swapped it with my brother who had an issue of Marvel Tales Featuring Spider-man, issue 264 'The Parents of Peter Parker'. I was on the edge of my seat and HAD to get issue 265.

So, when I saw the trailer for this film and that it dealt with new (for the screen) material that was so close to my first Spider-man experience I was thrilled.
Only bad thing is that with ASM not being part of the Marvel Movie Universe, the whole double agent Red Skull story around Peter's parents, who were labelled traitors, cannot happen, can it?

I'm intrigued and yes I was one of the many people that thought, "reboot? what the hell? why not just do a James Bond and recast and continue?".
Superhero films will inevitably sell themselves short, by that I mean stories, villains and popular characters.

Oh yeah definitely. I'm just not happy about that one thing. Him being unmasked. 4th movie in a row!

Its the whole 'audience connection' thing.
I would prefer if his secret was known only to himself, but don't mind the suspecting theorists like Robbie Robertson, who dropped more than a few hints in the books I remember reading. Or maybe I interpreted his comments that way.

Expect The Scorpion in the sequel. You heard it here first.

I predict Electro!

Uh- what?

The four most critically acclaimed comic movies of all time (TDK, Spiderman 2 and The Avengers and Superman 2) aren't faithful to the comic book storylines at all.

Those are all great movies, and probably the best of the superhero genre, but I'm not sure about the 'all time' part of your statement.

You agree that they're the best movies of the superhero genre, but don't agree that they're not the best comic book movies. You've lost me.

I totally read your post wrong. Sorry about that. 😮
