The simple fact that he hasn't seen the film yet is simply nuts.
To hold such a cold hatred of a character such as McClane can only be purely perceived as hateful intent on part of the aggressor. And nothing more.

But I've come to the conclusion that a few posters here are livid in their disdain for John McClane.

For pride? Maybe. For sport? Maybe more so.

But what exactly is there to hate about McClane?
-He's a crack shot.
-Punches like Indy.
-Has the best quips.
-Can see bullshit from a mile away.
-Has the luck of the Irish.
-And has durability out the wazzoo.

Van Zan is an X Junkie with zero personality, can aim a crossbow in a straight line and can beat down poor town leaders in an apocalyptic locale like a thuggish gang leader.
I give him credit for his suicidal jumping skills though, highlight of the movie. Surely the reason this thread exists in the first place.

But this is a mockery of what makes the MvF awesome in my opinion.

For a guy who claimed to have watched RoF about a week ago, you seem to not remember the basic premises of the film. Quinn's community was in a deplorable state.

Intro of the film, Quinn is having an argument with some guy who wants to take a crew out and harvest their crops early cos they're "starving" (word was explicitly used), he also comments how he buried his wife and other children on the side of the road due to no food.

So you see, the theme of desperation that was part of the film supersedes your fantasy over "Quinn's muscular physique." You really need to stop making these unsupported claims.

You have no evidence he is tougher than the Russian.
He maybe threw all slowly, slappily and ineffectively, like Van Zan.. but more likely, being in a Die Hard movie and being tougher than anyone in Reign of Fire, he could bang.
(Unlike Van Zan, who was unable to damage his opponent with 5 cheap shot free punches cause he sat on the opponents/arms/chest and being too malnourished to fight back/get Zan Zan off, to the point where after the "fight" got split up, Quinn was bragging that he'd kill him. lol)
