Voldemort vs. Gandalf the White

Gandalf need more look at Voldermort to magically fear him and the fight is over.

Then there's all the other shit Gandalf can do.

Voldemort also spreads fear but the mere sound of his voice over the hogwarts intercom. Gandalf didn't scare off the Balrog, the cave troll, the Witch King, or the orcs he met on the battlefield.

Seems like you are honestly projecting again because you're fighting for another lost cause. Don't do what to Gandalf what you did to McClane.

Shining a bright light isn't really all that battle effective, guy.

You have no argument, only rants and poor attempts at trolling. Fight's over before it starts if Gandalf wishes. He's the better and more powerful wizard. He'd lived 300+ years and fought epic battles. Voldermort obsesses over picking on school boys.

Concession accepted.

I keep wittling down your poor attempts at debating which now consist of begging me to stop.

Voldemort's quicker, more powerful, and has far better ranged attacks. Game over.

So more poor trolling? Expected.

Gandalf won already, it's over. Let it go.

Gandalf loses a few seconds into the fight. It takes Gandalf days to even slay a slow Balrog whereas it would take Voldemort a few attacks even if he didn't use the Avada Kedavra.

You have no argument as to how Voldemort is going to withstand Blinding Light, whose magnitude I've proven, or how the Dark Wizard isn't having his wand burned/broken. Your only counterargument is that Voldemort is more powerful than Gandalf; the whole purpose of this thread to determine that. Still, Gandalf's obvious divinity (or at least above man) negates that line of thought.

Gandalf can break/burn Voldemort's wand.

Where is this 'blinding light' technique demonstrated again?

Gandalf's longevity doesn't make him more powerful than Voldemort, if power is determined by scope and spectrum of abilities.

Neph and I came to an "Agree to Disagree" decision regarding the 'light' in the Helm's Deep charge.

The light during the Battle of Helm's Deep is clearly sunlight. With regards to the other example, Voldemort is not known for his fear or weakness to light-- why would it blind him?

You're probably not scared of the powerful flashlights, but if you looked directly into one, it would blind you.

..................But why would Voldemort look directly into one?

He'd be looking at Gandalf.

He'd be looking at Gandalf.

I don't imagine Voldemort would just stand there and look at the glowing staff. Given the Dark Lord's natural inclination for self-preservation, why wouldn't he just teleport behind Gandalf and spam him with Killing Curses? Or summon the staff to him?

You should probably watch the vids that were above posted; then reply. It's a powerful all encompassing light.

-Gandalf could easily block or shield himself from a death-spell (Balrog fight and Return of Gandalf the White scenes)

-Voldermort tries to summon Gandalf's stave to himself; it will fail. Gandalf is incredibly strong, he traded blows with the Balrog. Voldermort would just leave himself open to the much faster Gandalf. "Your phaggy wand is broken", fight's over.

It's actually more akin to a spotlight; at the 1:10 mark, you can see the projected beam.

Voldemort doesn't need to say the words in order to cast the spell; I don't see how Gandalf's quick reflexes would enable him to evade a curse from an enemy who can teleport wherever he wants and can attack silently.

I see no reason to assume that Gandalf's physical strength is greater than Voldemort's magic.

"Your phaggy wand is broken", fight's over.

I see no reason to assume that that will end the fight, either. One would think that such an ability would come in handy: "Sauron, your fortress is dust!" or "Saruman, your ass is down here where we can question you!" or "Frodo, your ass is in Mount Doom!" etc. There are clear and obvious limitations to what Gandalf can do with regards to such ability. As the resurrected replacement for Saruman, it is more likely that what he did in the deleted scene of the film {do we even count those?} is what he did in the book: Expel Saruman from the Istari. Voldemort, who is not a member of that order and likely wouldn't want to be, would likely just be winded-- from laughing his serpentine ass off.

Gandalf can break/burn Voldemort's wand.

It just makes it difficult to see I mean a very bright light isn't that badass or even worth mentioning against someone of Voldemort's magnitude.

Voldemort can also break Gandalf's staff. Voldemort's feats are also more impressive than Gandalf's feats. What feat of Gandalf the White's is more impressive than Voldemort's shield penetration at Hogwarts ?

Regardless, the light is extremely bright.

He always yells "Avada Kedavra," and going by character whims, that WILL be the spell he will open with against the White Wizard.

The TTT clip demonstrates how easily he can cast multiple spells at the same time.

FIGHT!

Voldemort cries, "AVADA KEDAV---aargh!" Instantly there is an incredible blinding light surrounding Gandalf, as Voldemort immediately looks away, his eyes stunned. The wizard quickly points his wand forward in the general direction of the Istari, and roars, "AVADA KEDAVRA!" As the verdant beam rushes forward, Voldemort suddenly feels an excruciating pain in his hands as he watches with horror as a fire immerses his wand; he drops the charred piece of wood and looks forward. There is thick smoke where Gandalf stood, and Voldemort knows his spell has successfully landed on target. Suddenly, the Istari emerges from the veil, as Voldemort is stunned. The White Wizard thrusts his staff forward as Voldemort is sent flying into a wall, the impact crushing his frail body.

And do you know how many seconds this would take? 15 seconds at most?

Gandalf's all-purpose Shield protects him from Voldemort's Killing Curse. (see Saruman vs. Gandalf in ROTK)

I see no reason to assume that Gandalf's physical strength is greater than Voldemort's magic.

Gandalf doesn't even need to use his physical strength to defeat Voldemort.

I don't understand- are you suggesting that Voldemort would still win if his wand is broken?

I'm saying I don't believe Gandalf can simply break Voldemort's wand nor do I believe Voldemort is going to simply stand and allow Gandalf to blind him, disarm him, and kill him. Or is Voldemort unconscious when the fight begins? 😂

1. You're arguing who is more bad@ss now?

Gandalf vs. Balrog

LOL!

2. Sure, he could. But he won't.

Basically, I'm accepting this as a concession. You have no argument other than "Voldemort's feats are more eye-candy than Gandalf's." Consider the Istari's abilities in the context of this battle and the White Wizard prevails.
