The bottom line is that there is a chasm between 'Gandalf is above the rank-and-file of Middle Earth in many respects' and 'Gandalf is a demi-god.' There is an abundance of proof for the former; next to none for the latter. It is imperative that you understand and accept that these two claims are fundamentally different in that the former is not conclusive proof of the latter.

With respects to their respective abilities, quanchi's argument is more persuasive. Voldemort's range of abilities is simply much more vast than Gandalf's demonstrated powers and many of them would be absolutely useful to this fight. I don't believe his shields would keep Voldemort at bay when Voldemort is powerful enough to obliterate a shield erected by a gathering of Hogwarts' finest instructors and parents. I don't believe the blinding light would be sufficient to injure someone who could simply teleport away or transmogrify it into a snake or all sorts of things Voldemort could do to kill or incapacitate the White Wizard.

In my divine brilliance and objectivity, I feel inclined to side with quanchi.
