What did Elziar do for him as his personal assistant?

Boring work stuff.

(So, can we say somthing obvious, like he's digging up dangerous Sith artifacts? That ought to worry people...)

He specifically ruled that out. Besides which, 'looking for an old history book' is not going to worry anyone.

What about smuggling dangerous goods?
Fits in with what we think, sith artifacts are often dangerous, and he's transporting them within the republic.

Transporting potentially dangerous goods through major republic shipping lanes and populated locales unchecked. These items that are being shipped could be a potential bio-or otherwise-hazard.

What artefacts, when and where? You don't have a clue about any of that.

"Why do you think he is so difficult to find?" asks the Senator.

We'd need proof.

"He's taken measures to make sure that he can't be found," Vera-Kin says. "He's hiding somewhere nobody would think to look, making his messages hard to trace, and so on."

"I think the Senator is looking for why we think he doesn't want to be found," Gallagher chimes in. "I can't just be that he's paranoid."

"Paranoid is one thing, but this is total isolation. I am asking why you think he is hiding. Let's see what we can work with."

"I think he either did something or is currently doing something he doesn't want to be confronted about," Gallagher says.

"Like?"

"Something connected to his work," Gallagher says. "We know he's very talented with technology. It's possible that he uses his 'vacation' time to spy about the Republic, hacking into secure systems and stealing information. We already know he's utilizing other networks for his messages. I doubt those companies are letting him do that. They might not even be aware."

"His work is as a corporate head. No matter what systems he has in place, he can' do that as well without any sort of contact or discussion with his board."

"He doesn't seem to trust anyone with anything, though," Gallagher says.

"And yet he has not spent his whole life in hiding. So what changed?"

"Perhaps he started doing something specifically," Gallagher says. "An ongoing activity."

"I can't think of any such thing that would work better by him hiding out in Gods-knows-where."

"So then he did something. Something that prompted him to go into hiding."

"What would make him do that?"
