But if I had come across empty settlements when climbing the mountain...then obviously there has to be some on the mountain itself...?

Firak is more than welcome to evacuate his settlements. It may tip off outr bounty hunter friends but I'd rather deal with that than have Firak not willing to work with us because his people were needlessly murdered.

What I want to know, is where they land their ship...clearly they come up the mountain path, but just as clearly they can't quite land in the jungle.

Anyway, if we've agreed on evacuating the settlements, Rianna's going to go warn them to get moving ASAP, and make her way back up to the base, since she's the quickest. She'll also let Rand and Edana know what's going on, because Xavier and Dak should be working on setting some comms so that the guard posts can alert us.

Probably, since we're not pursuing Ogros.

Plus, we are Force users, and some of us are pretty powerful. Predicting some things that will happen is kinda something we do.

Ok so what is the precise nature of this comms setup? We need some actual planning happening here.

The comms should be installed as low down the mountain as possible, as our first warning system. It needs to be something simple so we can just tell the Epireans to push a button and alert us without too much difficulty.

What's the feasibility of having the Epireans on the sides of the mountain path for ambush? And having some of the Dark Jedi with them?

So it is your intention to have the Epireans defend the mountain? Earlier you said you were only defending the base.

Does the mountain path count as the base or the mountain?

Err, well, what else would count as the mountain?

The rest of the mountain? I'd count guarding the path to the base as guarding part of the base itself...

However, I don't think we should really put much in the way of resources into guarding the path itself. I don't want to leave it completely undefended, though, I think we should do stuff like set up an avalanche ready to fall on anyone climbing up it once we're past, and stuff like that.

'The rest of the mountain' is relatively meaningless in that context. The path to the base is very much not the base. Attempting to guard the path hugely extends the scope of your concern.

Actually, defending the mountain would mean bringing the fight father from base, I like it. Let's place several small groups of Epireans with comms on the way, then we can alarmed and move against the bounty hunters. Preparing traps on the way is a good idea.

It also means spreading out the forces, I'd say.

I like the idea of setting traps. Like avalanches. Can that be done without Sabotage?

It seems implied that if we try to protect the mountain that things won't go as well as if we just try to defend the base.

How close up to the entrance can we get 50 Epireans and have them be hidden without having them inside the base?

Otherwise they can pour out of the base too.

And having us out on that stretch of path sounds bad anyway because of Rianna's "experience."

Con does have sabotage, if that would be necessary.

When it's non-technical like that, Survival is the skill.

As for implications, I am doing the typical GM thing of pointing out possible downsides of whatever you do. Just defending the base has its own issues. It's a much more controllable situation but it surrenders some initiative to the hunters.

We have external sensors right that help us? Why wouldn't they go off before they were able to hack them, some device that helps jam our sensors.
