A bit simpler than that. Sensors are just advanced eyes. Reverse the situation and tell me what you would do if I told you there was a base you needed to break into.

Hmm, probably charge in without checking for anything beforehand or having a working escape plan...well, that is if we don't detonate the bomb on our ship accidentally.

I can only hope they'll do what we do in these situations

😆 😆

At least be realistic, the bomb wouldn't detonate until it was in the best situation to get us surrounded and shot at by a bazillion people 😐

I don't suppose there's a way they could sneak up behind the sensors?

That would take an Intrusion roll.

They seemed pretty professional, they probably have high intrusion scores.

Oh btw, judging from all previous games our answer to inflitrationg a base is "go in the sewers". I think this has been asked before, but, do we have sewers?

Nothing anyone could break in from! 'Underground' is a rubbish way to break into a base built on an old volcano.

The one with the giant gun didn't strike Edna as that sneaky.

Well, the jetpack guy can come from any direction, but the others would probably be restricted to taking the path up if they want to get to the base in any sort of timely manner.

I don't think we should really guard the path itself, though. I'd rather be able to better control the situation.

So would I.

So then we should pull the Epireans back to the entrance. Or have them inside the base.

Having a force at the very top of the path so we can attack as soon as they make their way up would be ideal to me, I think.

Indeed, let's make several observation points on the path and prepare an ambush at the top. However, we need to move our forces after they are noticed, since thet can spot a huge number of ambushers ahead, right?

And they jest hacked our sensors?

Yeah, the external sensors were how they got into the system.

I feel like if we engage them before they even really get up close to the base, they won't have the opportunity to do much with them.

Perhaps we can have the Epireans emerge from the base entrance when they approach. That way they do not see the Epireans too soon. They will probably be expecting a fight but probably not what we're bringing into this now.

Xavier, I still want to know how you feel about being in the control room.

Well, that's three different ideas for the Epireans in a row.

It really is about time you nailed down whether you are defending just the base itself or beyond that.

Xavier doesn't mind being in the control room.

As long as he can get his hover board loaded up on the ship just in case we have to take off.

I think the Epireans should be stationed along the road up the mountain. Keeping them all in the base would cause a cluster****. Keeping them on the path might send them to die, but it'll whittle down on the bounty hunters and give us an idea of how close they're closing in on us. Once they reach the base entrance, then we can send out the reserve Epireans alongside Gallador and Galder and whoever else.

TACTICS.

So, is the plan to defend the mountain approach?

...okay when I get home from work today I'm listing out a coherent plan.

I'll wait to see what Rianna has to say about it all before I say anything else, in order to avoid confusing ourselves further.

Soooo I got totally distracted...

First of all, I do not think we should actually guard anything below the top of the mountain path. I DO want to set up some sort of traps on the path itself - an avalanche would be the easiest and most effective. Chances are, they're going to come up the path, and that will funnel them right to us at the top where we can then attack and control the fight.

However, at the same time, I don't want us to be screwed because half our forces are scattered down the mountain if they do manage to approach from another direction. It's not likely, but it could happen.

While splitting generally doesn't work well for us, it'll probably be necessary. We need Xavier in the control room, since he's the best techy person of us. I think it would be best for at least one other person to be there with him as well, or a handful of Epireans, just in case.

We should disconnect or boobytrap the external sensors so that they cannot use them against us. If we have little breathing filter thingies like they had on TPM, we should all keep them on us just in case as well.

As far as the comms thing goes, I think the idea was to reprogram some commlinks so if they're used they're directed straight to the control room, and to leave one at each guard post on the way up? I still like that idea, and I think that it should be impressed upon the Epireans at the guard post that when/if the bounty hunters pass them, first and foremost (before they do anything else), someone hits that comm so that we know where they are and can track their ascent up the mountain.

And as far as things at the top of the mountain goes, we should split up with a group that is capable of hitting hard at the very top of the path to attack immediately, while the rest hang further back to deal with any that get past the first line. Obviously the best would be for those not at the immediate front be people who are capable of attacking at range, so they're not just sitting by idly while waiting to see if anyone will get by.

Objections? Other ideas?
