you think Zimmerman should walk?

That has to be found to be the case in court. Saying "stand your ground" is not a get out of jail free card.

In Florida, yes it is.

If the precedences for this case are anything to go by.

The fact that there have been failed attempts at using this defense shows that, indeed, the defense does have to be validated in a courtroom. Someone can claim 'stand your ground' and be found guilty.

But this is not a stand your ground case, it's a case of self defense. Which it is.

What exactly would you say Stand Your Ground is? In many states there is an obligation to retreat in which case Zimmerman would be clearly in the wrong. Because Florida has a SYG law it does not legally matter if he provoked the confrontation.

I believe what he means is that the defense isn't actually attempting to invoke Stand your Ground as a means to defense in this particular case.

Listing to the court shows, it seems the Jury is not going with Murder 2 and they're inquiring about Manslaughter.

Looks "non-thug"? What does a thug look like?

That picture of Martin doesn't jive with the image one side has painted for me, a drug slinging gang-banger bad boy who would attack and try and kill Zimmerman over the exchange of some words.

I would agree. But the notion that the defense is trying to paint the picture that he is one, to me, is preposterous.

When Don West focused on Jeantel's statement of Martin saying "nigga" and "creepy ass cracker" I understood what he was attempting to do but at the same time I couldn't help but think "your reaching".

It's probably why West took so long with Jeantel.

afaik, stand your ground isn't actually a specific defense, rather, the colloquial name for a number of statutes that impact the way self-defense pleas are dealt with.

He was acquitted.

Yes, the scum was acquitted. Time for a civil lawsuit.

Yep

Good.

It's too bad the majority of the fools who are "outraged" about the ruling and the whole incident in general aren't "outraged" enough to direct their anger at the law that allowed the man to walk rather than the man himself.

Good. 👆

Case was still a mess and all over the place, though.

Not good, not good at all.
