Loki was expecting to talk, stall things out. He's too used to dealing with Thor, exchanging verbal pronouncements and accusations. And he found Tony Stark to be a yappy motormouth who bantered as well. That's what made it funny, Hulk lunging at him like that in mid sentence for the spare-the-conversation beatdown. 😛

I thought that scene was hilarious but I was baffled that someone as intelligent as Loki would go on a rant and not use illusions when in close combat against the Hulk.Also, anyone who thinks Loki has a durability level barely above human is completely out of it. He bounced back from Hawkeye's explosive arrow and Hulk's massive sucker punch. The rag dolling while rocking him hard, didn't knock him out IIRC.

I think that was kind of the point, he finally fought someone who just didn't give a f*ck.
