Better Counterterrorist- Bauer saved an orphanage of children and sacrificed his freedom to save them. Far more altruistically heroic than anything I can recall McClane doing. So he takes it
Also note all of that took place in a 2 hour period. McClane (in DH-verse time) takes far longer

McClane has four films worth of gunfights. He can shoot at a very small target with a snub-nose revolver, a gun known for it's terrible longer range accuracy.

Regarding McClane's durability in the H2H, that's McBullshit, because in DH4, he got laid down by Mai Lihn, cheap-shotted her, and didn't even knock her out with enough force to keep Mai Lihn, a person with far less body mass and durability than Bauer, down, considering she got back up and kicked the shit out of him with enough force to knock him, a grown man out of a window. He came back with the truck, but that doesn't change the fact that as far as the H2H fight went, McClane, with all of his durability, got the shit kicked out of him. You act like he's going to tank it Superman, and Bauer is going to break his hand and stare in awe at McClane liek the invincible omnipotent God you perceive him as. That's not going to happen. McClane can clearly be put down, even with an experience of durability, and considering how effortlessly Bauer snaps necks, it's clear McClane is going to die H2H
