The shuriken wasn't faster than lightning until we saw Itachi react to lightning, which gives him a lightning speed reaction.
Unless you want to keep saying that the shuriken was also lightning speed, you can just stop replying here. Either Itachi let the shuriken hit him(which he did, as implied by Zetsu), or it exploded at faster than lightning speeds.

Since the naruto world map is all one continent the time frame would be significantly less than a second. Since nobody in the naruto world has done anything like that in the whole series c's words have to be hyperbole.
Also ppl in the naruto world dont even have the technology needed to even measure light speed so theres another reason why its hyperbole those speeds.
So when someone says something happened in a "flash" it doesnt neccesarilly mean light speed. It just a word that the speaker uses to describe something moving fast. Ppl use the word flash to do that all the time.
