STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Initiation

"You and I BOTH know that isn't true!" Rand cackles just before you let go.

You drop into the waves and are immediately aware of the chilling cold that pierces you with a thousand icy knives. The water is inky black and difficult to see in when submerged.

She will use her senses to help her figure out where the closest shore (or area she can climb out of the water), and start swimming that way.

You would have to swim further into the bay, which you aren't sure you can make it to.

What about the cliff edge she had been jumping towards?

Much closer! You will still need to claw your way to the top. There is no beach at its base.

She'll go that way!

You start treading your way through the waves. The current is strong and is threatening to pull you out to sea.

You sense that you are not alone in the water.

I have no idea how good at swimming Rianna is...hopefully pretty good.

Who else (or what else) is with her?

It is Strength to swim, so you're awful.

You see the water stirring around you... and feel a painful little bite in your side. Small but sharp.

Rianna will ignore that as best she can and push on!

There are more of them now, and it is starting to hurt.

How far is she from the cliff?

Clearly this was a mistake...

You are making very limited progress toward the cliff... the spire you dropped off of is still closer.

It is impossible to see what is biting at you in the inky waves until they surface in their frenzy- little piranha-esque fish, except they are covered in spines as well as possessing hundreds of black teeth.

Ugh...she'll go back to the spire and climb out there, hopefully finding a spot on it where she can rest without being in Vash's line of sight.

It is a Strength roll to swim back to the spire, made Easy because you are going with the current. It presses you up against the spire when you roll a 4, and the carnivorous fish leave you alone when Vash fires a few shots into the water. He is trying to hit you but misses; the spire shields you.

You are still in the water and will have to scale your way up if you try to climb.

Rianna will take advantage of the fact that at the moment the spire is keeping Vash from actually hitting her and climb out of the water back onto the spire.

She's also at this point afraid and angry enough at this situation that she's probably not able to fully keep control of her emotions anymore...

You start your climb, gaining one success as you pull yourself clear of the water. However, you are not entirely certain that you can make it to the top.

Especially as Vash has cleared that jump himself and is now aiming straight down at you.

So out of curiosity, how would Rianna giving into her emotions help exactly? Because I think she's not going to hold out on not doing so any longer 😛

You don't know! Rianna has never tried it truly.

You are certain that your strength will not be enough to get you up the spire.

Hah. Well, her stubbornness is failing a bit in the face of not wanting Vash to kill her (if she's going down she's taking him out as well, damnit), and so she's going to do it so she can make it back up and jump away from there.
