That's why I said apples to apples comparison Batman will beat Iron Man....without 3D.

Man of Steel currently has a lower metacritic rating than X-Men the Last Stand... 😆

But has a higher score on RT. I hope it doesn't get below a 55. But things aren't looking too good.

I really hope this movie does well. It would be a HUGE boost for comic book movies.

Also, I really wanna see Doomsday and Cyborg Superman, somewhere down the road.

Doomsday HELLL YES! I'd like to see that in the Sequel. Start the movie with DD vs Superman early on. Let Superman go into hiding much like in TDKR Batman did. Show the world without Superman and what Luthor does. Near the end, bring Superman back with a new purpose and sundipped.

I hope I like it when I see it. The trailers look good and get me excited... but I think Synder is a joke of a director. He should be a second unit director brought in to help on action scenes, everything else is outside of his capabilities.

Overall, agreed. However, I really, really liked Watchmen. Dawn of the Dead was great as well. Everything else? Passable.

Ouch, opening with a 66% on RT? I'm not happy about this. Hopefully, it will rise ( movies rarely do) to about a 75% or more.

I'm still going to watch it anyway, but damn. 🙁

Yeah, I'm a bit disappointing. Not at the movie, since i haven't seen it, but the reviewers. It looks like it's another transformers. Critics hate it, audience love it

Thats a very harsh rating. Wow.

Well, here is some good news and maybe more things to come.

#ManOfSteel breaks all-time opening day record in Philippines WED w/ $1.7M from 466 thtrs & 90% mkt share. #Superman
12:48am - 13 Jun 13

I think this will be HUGE in Asia.

Somebody said it made 10.1m in Tapei city. Pretty amazing.

I was looking forward to this movie after seeing what they did to Iron Man 3. I hope it's just the critics' nostalgia of Reeve's Superman that is 'causing these low numbers. The meter is right a lot of the time, but it's also been wrong too. So long as it's 61 and above, I think it might turn out to be a good flick.

At least the GA seems to be enjoying it.

MANILA, June 13, 2013 – The new, origin film of Superman flew off to a blockbuster start yesterday as “Man of Steel” surpassed the industry's all-time opening day record with a nationwide gross of a monumental P69.52-M.

“Man of Steel's” phenomenal debut bested the opening day record previously established only last April by “Iron Man 3” at P62.9-million.

This was announced today by Francis Soliven, general manager of Warner Bros. (F.E.), Inc. which distributed the film. “This is a day of reckoning for Superman,” added Soliven. “He's a larger-than-life character beloved by millions of Filipinos, and this was proven today. Fans and families welcomed him back overwhelmingly as evidenced by the long lines, the ubiquitous Superman shirts everywhere, and the cheers at the end of screenings.”

Dominating the over all box-office with a 94 percent share, “Man of Steel” also posted the biggest opening day gross ever for Warner Bros. whose previous best first-day performer was “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2” at P28.3-million

WOW! Thats like what, $1.5M US?...

A lot of the reviewers seem to think there is too much action, the movie is too serious, and it's not as funny and silly as they would like. It really seems to me they were expecting a cross between the Reeves movies and a marvel movie. Obviously we won't really know till we see it, but it seems to me that these reviewers just don't want a serious movie about Superman. It makes me sad that they apparently think that every superhero movie needs to be 50% comedy. Current score on RT is 61% by the way. I think the movie will be lucky to stay above 50%.

I said it before and I'll say it again. Superhero fatigue, combined with nostalgia for the reeves movies, combined with a love of marvels style are what I think this harsh backlash is about. Won't find out for sure till tomorrow though.

Well, it is officially certified rotten on RT now with 59% and still dropping fast. I actually wonder if it will drop into the 40% range. At least people who aren't reviewers who have seen it seem to think it rules.

My friend went to watch it last night some kind of screening. He said it was as boring as CA, trying to be TDK.

🙁

It's got good reviews on the genre sites like IGN, Comicvine, CBR, so that's something.

Well, I trust the genre sites more than most bigger reviewers, so that's good. genre sites know what we geeks like. 🙂
