Avengers: Age of Ultron

Started by Zack Fair77 pages

Movie was lots of fun.

Whedon had 3 years to prep for this. He could've just borrowed from elements of Earth's mightiest for the ending battle and he'd save face for Ultron. Also the reason Ultron needed to be Hulk size was because he didn't have a vibrinium body. Otherwise, a Thor size vibranium Ultron would walk all over Hulk and Thor without a sweat. But then the team would have to come up with an actual plan ofattack against such an unstoppable force. Eh, brute force win is easier to write.

Yep, we were expecting a great movie. We didn't get it.
No comic movie has ever been great.

Few movies are great.

Maybe you should have gone in with realistic expectations.

I guess we expect Avengers to be the best one.

But not only does this one not even touch the first, but it wasn't up to par with the Marvel movies we got last year either. Just rewatched GOTG today. Frigging Awesome movie. AOU isn't on par with it. AOU doesn't even make my top 5 MCU movies tbh.

I'd say Avengers, GotG, IM, and TWS were all great.

My expectations were very realistic. But the movie didn't reach those and I don't hold it against it. What I do hold against it are the many flaws it has.

GotG was just alright for me, I don't see why people love it so much.

None of those were great, but TWS was definitely the best. 👆

Just took an hour long bus ride so I could go see this......and then discovered it was sold out when I got to the theater 😠

I saw thing again to see if my opinion of it would improve...it didn't but

Spoiler:
The city explosion did appear to be more of a shared feat. Also the Hulkbuster fight was a lot closer though the ending still suck ass

Kind of feel sorry for the crowd that decided to stay for the end credits.🙁

I don't know if it's just because this is the internet, but everyone seems really cynical nowadays.

The internet has always been cynical.

What does this have to do with anything?

Has to do with all the weeping nannys crying about collateral damage.

I hope Singer delivers with Apocalypse, Big A is the only hope to end this chain of awful marvel villains, he already made a good job with the Sentinels a.k.a killer bots done right, QS and Nightcrawler are gonna be there too, the power display is gonna be insane.

Apocalypse has to be a team buster monster.

Just because the MCU makes a terrible job with high powered heroes, doesnt mean that Fox or WB cant use their characters in a proper manner, Ultron was just embarrassing

I find funny how Marvel Studios nerf their characters to the point of being jokes while Fox doesnt have trouble making overpowered characters.

Movie Shadowcat, Deadpool, Quicksilver, Sebastian Shaw and the Sentinels are way more powerful than their comic counterparts, im expecting Apocalypse continuing this trend.

So mixed reactions to a film with mixed quality in different aspects then?

I don't know. I think, perhaps you may be expecting to much from certain
Types of movies. At least when it comes to comic books. If you are a comic book fan then you understand that the vast majority of the content being produced in the mainstream is a bunch of crap. As a fan, however, you forgive the poor imaginings and rushed story lines because the archetype of the characters still remain as relevant observations on society and the human condition.

I struggle to find the proper articulation to express my point at the moment but I'm sure you understand what I mean. A great example is superman. I'm big superman fan but I'll be the first to recognize that the superman comics, for the most part, are complete shit. The concept of the character, however, is rooted in the idealists perspective. This is a perspective which leads to a terrible realization that a lot a lot of people accept in life...,'you can't save the world and sometimes doing the wrong thing is the best choice.'

Only fans see the character as this way...,fighting against hîs true instinct. The average person recognizes superman as a god that always wins.
As a superman fan, however, you know his weakness is probably greater than most superheroes. Sorry I didn't want to get caught up on that but I know you understand what I mean and in saying that I think you have to recognize any comic movies that illicitls anything more than a good action/revenge movie.

Look at hellboy, the crow, road to perdition, the watchmen and batman 89 and I think one would be hard pressed to find enough flaws that keep these movies from being great when considering the genre theyre representing and everything they were working against. There's actually another half dozen conic flicks I'd include in this category of great movies but I'm just trying to highlight the fact that a movie doesn't have to be citizen Kane to be considered great.

Now, I'm not attacking you, I'm just trying to get a better idea of what if is you consider to be great because if you consider genres, the no comic book movie could ever be great

Based on any accepted metric of grading movies has a comic movie ever been regarded as great.

If, in your opinion, you think there are great ones, cool, I guess... I really don't care.

Watchmen and the Dark Knight.
