I like playing on monitors, anyway.
Has anyone noticed the "lag" a tv screen as compared to a PC monitor?
I tried playing my PS3, with Black Ops II, on my LCD TV. The response time was 10-20 ms (don't remember exactly).
That's literally the difference between killing or getting killed.
Playing on my monitors where the response time is 2ms, I have much more success. I am a berserker when playing FPS (I run and gun like a mad man) which gets me lots of kills but also lots of deaths.
Has anyone else noticed the response time thing? Has it improved your game when you switched to fast responding monitors?
If you haven't tried it, I recommend gaming on a 24-32 inch monitor with a response time of less than 4ms. You'd be surprised what that does for your success in online FPS games.
I said all that to say this: I look forward to playing Titanfall on PC.
Edit - for those of you that think 20ms isn't that big of a deal, try starting and stopping a stop watch as fast as you can. Most people, who are fast, can stop the clock around .02-.05 seconds which is 20-50 ms.
Assuming both parties react equally (both of you have the same guns, same perks, same attachments, and aim just as well as each other), if you're playing on a monitor and the other person on an LCD TV, you will get the kill almost every time. Getting one more bullet in, during a very brief gunfight, makes a difference. It makes a remarkable difference for me because my Kill to Death ratio will be even or even drop below 1 when I play FPSs on a TV. But it is almost always over 1 when playing on the monitors. I notice that the biggest difference is I win more of those gunfights (where both players notice each other at the same time) and my aim still sucks with a controller.
Anyway, hope my advice helps someone improve their game, out there. This new generation of consoles would be the perfect time to switch to faster response time screens. 😄
