It hasn't even been out that long yet...how can anyone say it bombed? It did great numbers opening weekend and then lost ground it's next weekend due to strong competition. Let's see how it does this next weekend.
Ticket sales don't drop 60% three days after a movie comes out due to "strong competition".

This movie, for most intents and purposes, bombed. It doesn't really matter though- we're getting a sequel regardless (just goes to show how thirsty WB is for that Avenger's swag. Returns made double it's budget, and the script for the sequel was going to have Doomsday in it, they scrapped the film anyway because it sold below expectations).

Studios get a much larger percentage of money from domestic sales.

Yes, it's a despicable crime wanting to make a profit.

Oh how we suffer for our superheroes. 🙄

Did I say it was a bad thing, or are you just dumb?

Oooh a multiple choice question!

😂 @ MoS tagged as Bombed. Haters gonna hate.

BTW it has already made more domestic money than Star Trek: Into Darkness, Batman Begins and Superman Returns and counting 170 millions by sponsors, its already made more than twice its budget.

Technically, MoS's kind of bombed. It's on track to make roughly as much money as Returns did.

Sounds like domestic market.

Michael Rosenbaum wants to be Lex Luthor in a sequel

Also MoS already surpassed Returns in worldwide gross in less than two weeks.

"On track"... It's already made more than Returns and it's been out for only two weeks.

It better start pulling in more than just the $400+ million it's made so far. On a budget of $225 million, studios are gonna need to see more than "almost double" to take such a huge risk on a sequel. That's a lot of f*cking money to not get a huge payday out of, and a big f*cking risk to repeat with a sequel.

Captain America, Thor, and Iron man were all made for approx. $150 million and pulled in x2.5, x3, and x4 their budget, respectively.

Iron Man 2, Avengers, and Iron Man 3 were all made for $200-$220 million and pulled in x3, x7, and x6, respectively.

New Spider-Man pulled in x3+
Two of the Dark Knights pulled in $1 billion+

All of them got, or ended as a sequel.

Meanwhile, Green Lantern, on a budget of $200 million, made just $19 million over budget. A sequel is still being considered, and even then, only for a hopeful payoff with a Justice League film. Which won't happen if Superman's films and the eventual Batman reboot don't fare well. On the plus side, if Man of Steel 2 gets greenlighted for a lower budget, the filmmakers may be forced to tone down the boring actions scenes and mindless CGI explosions, and actually focus on creating some goddamned likable characters, sensible story, and worthwhile dialogue--all of which was lacking from Man of Steel.

MOS has already grossed more in 2 weeks than SR did in it's entire run. That's Domestic and Worldwide.

Also look at the difference in profit margin. SR overspent by a ridiculous amount. Once you include marketing costs as well, that movie was the one which bombed.

MOS on the other hand made 3/4 of it's budget back through sponsors before the movie was even released (but to be fair it will need that to cover it's own pretty high marketing costs). But a substantial profit is already pretty clear well before it's blu-ray/dvd release.

It made its budget back! It can't be a bomb!

if we take in to account worldwide, the movie is successful enough imo.

Saw the Easter egg, yeah. Here's hoping that if they do it, Johns oversees the script.

Thus the divide of MoS opinions continues. However I do notice that on both sides that like and dislike the movie have almost the exact same complaints about redundant actions, lack of character development, overuse of CGI, and of course

Spoiler:
Superman killing Zod
...wonder if Zack Snyder can do anything about that?

I honestly disagree that the action was redundant or that there was a lack of character development, but maybe its just me.
