Well if he pulled him away Zod could still burn the family and if he tried to cover his eyes he'd burn his hand and Zod would still have enough time to kill the family.
There was the oil rig scenes where it showed Clark actually on fire & then holding up the rig itself with fire & explosions all around him.
Yes, the heat ray from Zod's eyes would've been more intense but nothing in the movie suggested Clark's hand would've been burned severely if he blocked Zod's gaze.
Hell, that would've been a better death if Supes blocked Zod's heat vision with his hand causing Zod's head to ignite & explode.
Better than a neck snapping anyway.

The way Jonathan died on the other hand...
I was momentarily saddened by that scene...then the stupidity of it set in.
How much of a boyscout Clark was to totally obey his dad & not attempt to help him. And how selfish Jonathon was to widow his wife because of his paranoid beliefs for Clark not to expose himself.

Did this movie break any records?I don't think any superhero movie will surpass Avengers, Marvel did a great job with peaking everyone's interest.
inb4 "it's made its budget back and then some doe!" That's no longer considered being a hit.

Avengers was a well crafted gamble that paid off and has become a phenomenon. No comic book movie will come close unless we're talking Avengers 2 or Justice League.

It hasn't even been out that long yet...how can anyone say it bombed? It did great numbers opening weekend and then lost ground it's next weekend due to strong competition. Let's see how it does this next weekend.
