Well he was trained, it just doesn't make much sense how or why.

Or how he was able to beat Zod like a red headed step child.

Agreed.

fly off and then what?

I honestly don't know how I would've ended the story or Zod's demise myself.

I'm just saying we all saw what Superman was capable of doing, smashing a ship's hull, throwing super villains through buildings & yet he wasn't able to stop Zod turning his head a few inches...?

stop blaming Superman and focus your attention on the dumb-ass people who just stood there instead of running away from the death beam. 😐

Perhaps Zod was trying everything in his power to kill these humans because he realized how much Kal loved them?

Yes, that was what Zod was doing.

Still doesn't explain why Supes couldn't drag him, push him, fly Zod away from the people...
Hell, why didn't Supes just put his hand over Zod's eyes to stop the heat vision???

Also it was pretty stupid/naive of Superman to tell Zod earlier on that the secret was to focus & not be overwhelmed by all his senses going haywire with his newfound abilities...

what the hell does snapping someone's neck have to do with having fighting experience? bermm

A lot if you ever took up an art of fighting. When I took up wrestling, I learn how to break or snap many parts of the human body. Even around the head and neck area. You learn things just by people telling what not to do so you do not hurt or kill someone.

Clark did have more experience and knowledge of his powers. That was an advantage he had that paid greatly throughout his encounters with Faora/Nam-Ek and later Zod. It was actually quite cool how Zod and co. closed the gap with their superior combat skill. 👆

No one is disagreeing with that point.

I just found it interesting for the writers to choose that method of superman killing Zod.

They wanted to make it shocking and it paid off.

It has everyone talking about it. The sequel will nuke the box office.

From memory the people were literally cornered into a corner with rubble & debris blocking their other way out.

Did this movie break any records?

I don't think any superhero movie will surpass Avengers, Marvel did a great job with peaking everyone's interest.

Sorry, I disagree.
It wasn't shock value but more an anti-climatic death scene.

It wasn't two super powered entities battling...it was one guy snapping another man's neck.

I mean it's fitting for Bond or Rambo to defeat their enemy like that but it just felt too "humanising" for a "godlike" character such as Superman.

They sure did shock everyone, especially those who came to the movies with there kids.

They had a wall to their backs, rubble to their left and the beam to their right... they could have moved forward and ran for it.

Sad to see Jor-El die the same way Maximus did...I thought that was bullshit

lol

I just checked; Marwash got the left/right rubble/beam flipped, but the path straight ahead was clear and open up until the very end. They could have ran. They were scared stupid it seems.

The beam was coming from the left pushing them into the corner.
But yeah people tend to freeze in fear...

Well if he pulled him away Zod could still burn the family and if he tried to cover his eyes he'd burn his hand and Zod would still have enough time to kill the family.

Did anyone notice that Jor-El died the same way Maximus died? I thought that was kinda shitty
