As for punching each other through buildings with that it captured the sort of fights you would see in the comics/Cartoon.

This is the closest to comic/anime/cartoon fights we have ever gotten in the big screen.

Something tells me that a massive gravity weapon destroying several blocks of Metropolis would cause people to evacuate the skyscrapers.

Now that you mention it, I seem to remember a lot of getting-punched-through-buildings and other collateral damage in Superman:TAS, enough to be lethal to at least a few bystanders, and this from an experienced Superman.

It's part and parcel, and if you look too closely, any illusion breaks down.

Yep. I don't remember mass complaints over Superman:TAS&JLU. In fact I remember everyone hoping they would do live action more akin to that.

They'd probably surrender after he drops the first few Skyscrapers on a civilians. They care about innocent lives after all.

Captain France 2 the rescue.

people are also forgetting the Donnor Superman films where there was death and destruction

Granted that there wasn't a gravity beam, the collateral damage is still staggering.

Especially when he lets the last nuke go on its merry way to save Lois. But the Donner films (all the originals, really) are kinda, uh... stupid. Hilariously stupid.

Superman throwing his logo at Zod in the second movie was cinematic gold, though.
