Even then, as I recall Jor-El later states that "it was Kryptons time" or something, so he didn't seem to care about them all dying anyway.
That's just the Russel Crowe Apathy shining through. Don't blame Jor-El.

LOL@Superman not caring. He cared so much he gave a downright scary scream out of frustration.

Everyone there must have shit their pants

Oh c'mon!
That scream was so out of place & un-necessary....it literally made no sense at all as to why he'd react that way afterwards.

Saying he had no choice but to kill Zod was pointless as well. He could've tried to drag Zod away or even fly off with him...either actions would've given those people enough time to get out of Zod's point of view.

Hell, a better climax would've been Supes covering Zod's eyes with his bare hands & forcing the heat vision back into Zod's head.

Remember that part in the movie that was horrible?

It lasted for about 2 hours.

Remember that, Zack?

Out of place really? The guy commited murder for the first time, failed to protect hundreds of people and cut the last remaining link to his extinct race. I don't think it is out of place for him to react like that at all. He was always confused and distraught throughout the entire film.

Ever occured to you Zod could have been using his own strength/flight to remain there?

Zod is just as powerful as him. Maybe he was keeping himself rooted to the ground or in place.

I thought that scream demonstrated everything Superman stood for, and it happened right after he made a choice most fans almost never see him make after being put in a terrible position. That entire scene was f*cking amazing.

But that's the point. You say he made a choice.
He didn't. He didn't try & choose to drag Zod away, he didn't try & choose to block the heat ray vision...Superman went straight to the kill instead.
Screaming in futile anguish afterwards is a poor defence in court.

But then again, there was a lot of bad choices the film showed he made. Like not standing up to the bullies when he was young or for that matter, saving his father from the tornado.

FKN Pa Kent death. That shit was just plain awful. Every time I get there I just roll my eyes and skip it.

I'm willing to watch this again on blu-ray but yeah it was really cringe-worthy at times...

It was obvious & unfortunate Costner was given a cameo role & probably told "you don't need to invest into your character, just look the part."

I like the movie a lot, but there are certain things I would change to make it better. The pa Kent death could have been handled much, much better. I mean seriously how stupid is he? Not only is his son super human, he is also much younger. Clark could have simply picked up the dog and run at high relative to a human man in his prime speeds to Pa and Ma Kent. But no. Lets be dumbasses for the sake of drama. SMH.

Why would he stand up to the bullies? Should he fight back and then accidentally kill one of them?

So...

Was this any good? I haven't seen it yet.

I liked it, and I think it's a solid 8/10.

Far better than Returns, and Superman 3 + 4.

Those were abominations, I agree.

Yes. I rewatched it yesterday and it was as amazing as I remember.

Yeah, it's an awesome movie. Was it the best thing ever? Of course not. But it was very good. Honestly, a lot of people are just jumping on the hate band wagon. Hating on MOS is the hip thing to do online at the moment. Most of the criticism is BS.

Looking at Man of Steel again, it really is an horrible rendition of Superman for the big screen.

Hopefully in the next one they won't still moves from Hancock and Dragon Ball Z.

Wasn't perfect. Could Have improved the dialogue a bit. The non stop action at the end could have done with a break to develop the characters and story a little. You tend to enjoy the action more that way.

But despite those small criticisms of mine it doesn't deserve to be Hated on. Solid 7/10 Imho.

This movie would have been hated on no matter what. If they cut back on the destruction, people would have complained that it wasn't realistic. If Supes didn't kill Zod people would have complained that he's a wuss. It's a catch 22. No matter what, people would have found something to be unhappy about.

Trolling Zack withstanding, it has some cool action scenes, and ok acting.

It's worth renting or dling.
