Man of Steel (2013)

Started by Firefly21888 pages

Man of steel is by far one of the worst comic book adaptations in cinematic history, not including green lantern, cat woman or Iron Man 2.
Bad writing
Cheesy and extremely stale/unoriginal story
Louis Lane could have been much better
Henry Cavill had the looks for a good superman but was
absolutely mediocre
Superman killed someone, which I never remember him doing, ever...

If this movie didn't have the popular superman logo to fall back on, it would have been forgotten by now

Thanks for the reminder, I think I'll go rewatch this amazing movie now.

Also, you can't remember Superman killing anyone? Guess you've never seen Superman 2 where he kills Zod the first time. 😆

I'm looking forward to watching this again. I like going back to movies I disliked to see if my opinion will be reversed. Worked for Blade Runner after 4 viewings, so Man of Steel may take several dozen.

Damn. It was that bad to you?

Movie looks amazing in 1080p

Watching the start of the movie..... I find myself agreeing with Zod. **** those council jerks, they're the reason Krypton is doomed in the first place. Jor-El, stop being a stubborn fool. The survival of your race is more important than ideals and shit. Plus Zod seemed to be the guy wanting to evacuate, which is loads better tha Jor-El plan of 'save one baby'.

"And who will decide what bloodlines survive? You?" Uh, no you do you hypocritical ass, only saving your own son from planetary annihilation. Jeez-us!

Yeah, I feel like the writers may have tossed in the line about the bloodlines purely because Zod was far too sympathetic of a villain. "Hmmm. Zod is making too much sense. Let's throw some ethnic cleansing in there to make him more eeeeeeviiilll."

Read the comics. Superman has a higher body count in those than he does in MOS.

Even then, as I recall Jor-El later states that "it was Kryptons time" or something, so he didn't seem to care about them all dying anyway.

He killed doomsday and I'm pretty sure there are times where he's killed

And yeah he killed Zod and his gang in Superman 2...well if you don't watch the Richard Donner cut anyway

He also killed Zod and co during Byrne's original Man of Steel run. This served to motivate his no-killing policy. Exactly like in the movie. Funny isn't it?

Thats my favorite criticism. Because every time someone whines about it someone else finds a new way to point out how dumb it is.

I understand that superman has killed before, but he should atleast feel a little bad about it. Superman is an advocate for justice, and I understand he may have had to kill zod to prevent him from murdeRing that family. But the fact that he was completely oblivious to the murder he just committed, whether it be for the right reasons or not, sort of made it seem like it want a big deal.
Also superman 2 wasnt that great either

Yeah. Some just hate for the sake of hating. The film is not perfect it has legit problems, but Superman killing Zod ain't one of them IMHO. It was reasonable in the context. Having said that Superman could have been more reserved while fighting Zod. He was reckless. An example I use is how he dodges a gas truck all fancy and lets it explode behind him. That was unexcusable, even if he is a noob.

My 2 cents.

Didn't care? Are you f*cking kidding me? Have you watched MOS? He did care, the guy screamed at the fact that he killed Zod after, he didn't wanna kill Zod but he had no choice, he screamed in sadness that he had to kill Zod

LOL@Superman not caring. He cared so much he gave a downright scary scream out of frustration.

Everyone there must have shit their pants

This is a legit 2/10 movie.
