So I moded my character a bit added got str up to 40.
Using Crypt Blacksword+5 wiith 2 hands infused with dark and dark weapon buff its pretty amazing it does about 1100-1200 damage with rb and and about 1400-1500 with rt.
Also using ring of blades+2 to increase damage.
You can get it from ornifex she trades it for ng+ rotten's old .

I really hate the Rat Vanguard boss battle, I was petrified, and when I came back it was as if I died 5 times because the hollowing effect seemed to jump several levels. I wonder if it glitched up? Actually I'm not really crazy about Grave of Saints. I need a spell with a decent AOE, but I haven't been able to find one yet, what's the deal? I have my Soul Level up to 172, and still have yet to beat this place. I'm really taking my time to farm every portion until nothing re-spawns. I've been wondering if my SL is too high for where I am in the game at this moment? I see how people online seem to rush through the game, and aren't really farming at all. Should I be on NG+ with a soul level of 172?
I finally beat him, but that was one of the most nerve racking boss fights in the game so far. The actual boss is weak, it's his helpers that caught me up. I don't know whether or not i should join the covenant? I'm part of the Sun covenant, and I'm wondering if i should leave it, will it reset the amount of Sunlight Medals that I have given to it so far? Apparently there is a nice sword to be gained if you give the Sun statue 25x Sunlight Medals which comes from helping others complete boss battles. I've given it 7 so far, and am not very certain what will happen if I leave before completing that task?

If you use a meele build use a bonfire ascetic to kill the rotten for the 2nd time trade his soul with ornifex for crypt blacksword farm petrified dragon bones in aldia keep using bonfire ascetics infuse it with dark stone at mc duff place in lost bastille also reinforce it to +5 get a sunset staff from felkin the outcast infuse it with dark and upgrade it to +5 buy dark weapon spell.
Thats like one of the most powerful great swords it does 1100dmg with rb and 1400 with rt if you use it with 2 hands.

yeah I beat it as well. It wasn't that hard once I got the ring leader, but the first time I went in, I wasn't paying attention, and got stoned for it. If you get stoned and die, it's like dying 5 times. My hollowfication was pretty severe for a first time death, and i thought that it was a glitch, but nope, it's the consequence of letting stinky, and his friends kill you.
I'm now in the Gutter, and I thought grave of Saints sucked dog nuts... this place is really spooky. It's dark as hell, and making me wonder if it needs to be done in order to move on with the game ha ha. It's giving off a Resident Evil feel. Normally I'd farm everything until it never pops up again, but with this place, I just want to proceed to the exit LOL.
