Lol at the assumption that the poll means there's been socks voting to skew the results. Nobody takes polls seriously anymore. If someone's doing that, joke's on them. As it is, I think the poll accurately reflects the forum's opinion. Maybe not the RIGHT opinion, but the consensus opinion.Btw, I still haven't seen a compelling reason this isn't absolutely true:
The fastest ones will start blitzing (Superman, Manhunter, Gladiator). Superman will go first, being the fastest. Best case scenario for everybody else, he engages one of the other blitzers [in this case, Manhunter, since he knows him best, and his threat level, while Gladiator is basically a poor man's him]. Worst case scenario, the blitzers each engage one of the others, according to who they consider to be the most dangerous. Superman will blitz, say, Firestorm [logical]. Manhunter will go for, say, Hal. Gladiator will go for Thor. In each case, undoubtedly, the other 3 will fall. [unless you consider the Gladiator nanosecond an outlier/hyperbole, but that's a discussion for another time].
Even if they engage different people [say, Manhunter quickly scans somebody's mind and figures out Surfer is dangerous, too], nothing much changes. [btw, Manhunter isn't somebody you want to get too CBR with.]

You're not incorrect with a lot of this, so I don't have much to debate you on. But for at least a few, a giant energy blast would be their best and perhaps only option. Thor can redirect and amplify energy blasts to an absurd degree, and again, the battlefield is comically small (pun not intended). A few energy-users is all he needs to be able to redirect and fry everything in the battlefield. Meanwhile, even your speedblitz punches would be creating shockwaves that would be tossing everyone around. Strategy would be largely thrown out the door; it would just be a mess of shockwaves and energy. And, as stated, that means advantage Thor imo.
I've always been much more hesitant than most to ascribe gigantic speed advantages among this tier. I think anyone could hit anyone, despite knowing that not everyone on the battlefield can go feat for feat with the 2-3 best. So I won't go to bat against you on the speedblitz stuff, but I also don't think it matters in this scenario.
Originally posted by DigiOne thing that is still baffling is how people pick Surfer. If there's one character this forum loves to death unjustifiably, it's him.
Even if you assume in the cluster**** that ensues that Surfer will somehow specifically target Superman [who at no point in this scenario will blitz-engage him, as will nobody else for it to be feasible], have time [and means] to detect his weakness, have time to recreate it and then use it [in the complete shitstorm surrounding him with everybody attacking everybody], and take him out of the game, so what? There's still half a dozen people on the field, some with abilities tailor made to dent his ass into oblivion [Thor, who will always have Surfer's number]. Some with almost exactly the same abilities [Captain Atom, Green Lantern, Firestorm] etc. Some with AOE attacks that are not physical in themselves (Martian Manhunter). And plenty of shit going all around him. And he's one of the guys specifically targeted, too (along with Thor) by all of the Marvel side. As would Superman be by the DC side.
I see why somebody would pick Superman [as...I'm one of them]. I see why some would pick Thor. I see why some would pick even Martian Manhunter.
But Surfer? He brings nothing special here.
I know the polls don't mean much, but really?

GL is highly underrated, IMO. There was a battlezone, I think with Desaad showing that they are just as versatile as any top tier out there.
Originally posted by psycho gundamI don't despise Surfer. I really have no reason to. I'm confused by people having such a high opinion of him, when he has done nothing to warrant as such. The fact that he wins the poll (I repeat, Superman, Thor, Captain Atom and Green Lantern combined) with the stipulations in this thread, at such a large margin, is ridiculous, I'd say.
it's inherent for "supeman guy"s to sort of despise surfer lol

Originally posted by armedforbattleNo, not at all. I never said Captain Atom would win. I never said Green Lantern would win. I said Surfer being able to exploit Superman's weakness mid-battle is absurd [and gave reasons], and I also pointed out how he's really nothing that out of the ordinary, as far as the characters involved in this thread are concerned - and here's where I used Captain Atom and Green Lantern]
So basically what you're getting at is: Surfer isn't going to win because he won't have time to take people out with everything going on around him, but for some reason it will work for CA, GL, supes or Thor.
Before you put words in my mouth, make sure you properly comprehend what's being posted.
