I think this movie was ok but its being highly overrated by some. There were potholes galore, multiple underdeveloped/wasted characters and wasn't an actual team movie, which the X-Men are. In no way is this better than Avengers or Cap 2, as some have claimed. Hell, AMS 2 was better.
It focuses too much on Xavier and Magneto (why did they break him out again? And Xavier letting him go now effectively makes him responsible for any murders committed by Mags.) I understand they're the best actors they have but c'mon. I'm still waiting on an actual X-men film that uses team dynamics.

^ Team dynamics have improved massively in these last couple of X-Men movies. Wolverine had more screen time and dialogue than Eric. And both Beast and Mystique had major roles. Not to mention all the future mutants taking part in those future battles.
Avengers was a better film and I'm not alone, child.

Yes, they have improved but that's not saying much. And that's just it. I think people are so enamored of this film simply because it's better than the others, which were poor.
The future mutants had cool scenes but zero character. They could be anyone. I didn't care if they died because I had no reason to. They were fodder.
Beast was a side-character, at best, and Mystique was important to the plot but she's a villain, not an X-man. And was only slightly more developed (where'd she learn to fight like that, again?) The only people given focus were Xavier, Erik, Raven and Logan. That's piss poor for a film about a team.

Oh, most definitely. But there's still a ways to go.
On that I agree. A lot of work to do. I still think it's a step up from the first three, but Wolverines (lol), and is on the same level as First Class, which I really liked.
I'm someone that's pretty severe when it comes to X-Men, but I think things, fingers crossed, may finally be starting to look up.

I never said it wasn't Loser. Contrary to what goes on in your head I do love The Avengers, Iron Man 1, Cap 2 and Thor 1.
All I agreed to was the acting quality was better in DOFP than Avengers. And I'm not alone there Troll.

Of course you are not alone, there is a crapload of toddlers.
Avengers general plot is terrible, up there with the Transformers franchise.
DoFP shit from Mount Olympus in avengers plot and characters.

What exactly was wrong with the plot and characters?
Avengers had a very simple, straight forward plot. I actually think that's for the best though. Because whedon had the incredibly difficult task of bringing 4 blockbuster franchises together, he had to focus the movie on the characters and their relationships rather than the plot. A complex, intricate plot would require much more focus and screen time.

I was going to reply, but this:

Puts it quite nicely.
Avengers wasn't the most complex of tales, but it was a classic superhero story, almost lifted straight from comicdom itself. Well acted, well written in terms of dialogue; to me, Avengers is the quintessential superhero team movie. It isn't my favourite comic movie by a ways, but it is as close as I have ever seen a comic book put on screen.
