X1 & 2 really destroyed the source material with their demotion of Cyclops for one. Also the X1 plot was pretty dull. X2 was an entertaining film, but in that one Cyclops had basically become a cameo.
And SR really was a huge screw up. But I really hope he does make amends with this one.
It wasn't just that Superman Returns was bad but the fact that at the time Singer jumped ships from Marvel to DC which ****ed over X-Men 3 and made it a lot worse than it could've been if he had still been behind it. Then again, with his dislike of Cyclops, he might've still killed him off anyway.
It's good about old Charles being back but not all the damage X3 did has been undone still.

And tbh, I've been unhappy with him since the first X-Men movie.
