Compared to First Class almost every superhero film is average at best.

They're fighting iRobots?

No Cyclops in this movie

Go ****ing figure, not that I was fond of Marsden's Cyclops outside maybe the first movie.

@ ares: True that.

That's debatable.

As far as the X-Men films it's not.

So your saying the X-men films are superior to something such as the Avengers movie

lol.

How sad is it that i'm actually happy about that?

That's not what he said.

But that's how ares834 post comes off as.

To me, it came off as him saying that the X-Men movies, when compared to First Class, are decidedly average.

To me, that's being generous, but still.

But he says "superhero films" in general not just the X-men movies

moving on anyway without it turning into a couple of pages of this.

He said "almost" every superhero film, pointing out what a Fantastic film First Class was.

But Avengers was hardly your normal superhero film.

As for Cyclops not being in this film, it's actually quite surprising considering Singer is fitting in just about everyone else in the film.

But I'm not crying about it, simply because if he was in it, it would have been a cameo, and I'd prefer him to just not be in the film than him having a X3(or even X2) type role.

Btw does anyone know if is Havoc in this movie?

The absence of cyclops and inclusion of Singer has me not caring about this movie. I've seen enough adventures of, Wolverine and if i wanted to see Picard and Gandalf again id watch the horrible STNG movies and the dreadful hobbit spinoff.

Havok is in first class 2. But not this.

I think when it released X2 was dope as hell and had everyone thinking it was the GOAT comic book flick up until that point. As time passes you tend to forget about older flicks and appreciate them for such. I think the same statement I just said could be said for Spiderman 2. GOAT superhero flick upon its release.

I think Avengers is the best thing Marvel has put out personally. First Class is definitely up there though.

This, OMG, preach!

Picard and Gandalf both did very good as Xavier and Erik. But clearly McAvoy and Fassbender are something special. Let them have their shine. More fresh and less of the already familiar X formula.

Funny, I think X2 is the best of the X-Men films. As good as Fassbender and McAvoy are, they're no McKellen and Stewart.

That being debatable, what makes First Class better than X2 was that it centered around Fassbender and McAvoy, whilst X2 centers around Hugh Jackman, with a few nice moments from McKellen, but hardly anything from Stewart.

Mathew Vaughn actually stated when making First Class that in the original X-Men films he always found the Magneto/Xavier dynamic to be the most interesting part of those films. And he was right about that Imo. There just wasn't enough of it in those films.

Cyclops and Wolverine clashing in X1 was interesting though. X1-3 would have been much better imo if they built on that relationship. Unfortunately it faded away as Cyclops role got smaller throughout the movies. As a result what we were given by the end of X3 was basically a Wolverine trilogy.

Cyclops, one of the absolutely central, essential X-Men characters, still hasn't been done justice on-screen.

Which is really sad and pretty frustrating for not only Cyclops fans but any real fan of the X-Men.

Hopefully they will use him in the X-Force movie they're planning and portray him properly. But no team members are confirmed for that yet.

Agreed. And the sad thing is Marsden was perfect for the role.

I blame it on the writers wanting to focus more on Logan and not the other team members.

They were meant to be X-men films, not Logan films. And their choice caused a downward spiral of the universe.

The 90's X-men series focused on Jubilee as being the focus as an entry to the world and it worked. The films tried to replace her with a young Rogue and failed.

Imagine an film trilogy focusing on Jubilee, entering the already established team. Love triangle between Jean, Scott and Logan already in effect. Rogue with Ms Marvel powers and the threat being even higher.
It would've been epic.
I hate the FOX X-men films.

My reason? They don't show the X-men in the same kick-ass light as the comics and cartoon did.
They always seem to be struggling with their threats.
People don't want to see the X-men struggle besides the relationships they have within their own home.

The recent Wolverine movie had him on the ropes and almost dying even when he got his powers back!
WE WANT OUR HEROES TO OVERWHELM THEIR ENEMIES NOT WIN DUE TO DUMB LUCK.

The X-Men are meant to be a pro-active team that eliminates threats when they arise. Not some wobbly group of hopefuls that narrowly achieve wins.

If this film sucks... and I bet the farm it will after Jack the Giant Slayer. Then Singer is the new age Joel Schumacher as far as I'm concerned.
