i agree--that part was....odd. but only because he later went on to use his powers anyway. more conflict there, more resistance to becoming superman would have helped that--more impact needed to come from that imo. tbh it was the only part that did NOT sit well with me. i was fine with the ending though i get where rage and phil (if he still feels that way regarding the film) are coming from.to me i guess it worked because it WAS a departure from the traditional. the writer took a different view. the alien god aspect was played up heavily. while his humanity was there, exhibited throughout, but he was an outsider the whole movie and the characterization portrayed that imo. the superman part really was godlike, justifiably so i thought. the sense of awe the onlookers had as they watched the fights was pretty incredible i thought. maybe the next one will focus more on clark, and the humanity part will be more closely attended. i loved it though. it worked for me on almost all levels.
As for the ending I was okay with it as well.
Spoiler:
By the time he snaps Zod's neck it's pretty obvious the writers needed a way to keep Zod contained within the Superman Universe and there really isn't by that point in time. All the Kryptonain technology has been used or destroyed. And they put Superman in pretty much a no choice situation. As in he had no other option or Zod was going to kill those people. Even than Superman was trying to reason with Zod to stop and even afterwards it was obvious killing Zod was Kal's absolute last option he wanted to do and he felt pain from it for what he'd done. Not that big of a deal to me.

I felt it was a situation and decision that completely nailed home Superman's humanity. Kryptonite was not his biggest weakness after all. The situation was impossible if you ask me. If he did not kill Zod he was also risking entire humanity because really...who would stand up to Zod if Zod killed him?

Oh didn't even catch her name. She was awesome. Ruthless, powerful, and how sick was it when she had her super speed moments? She was more badass than Zod almost to me.

Same hereSpoiler:
Of course I think this movie was meant to humanize Superman more and so him making a split second decision to follow his fathers wishes weren't too bad. They even show that he pretty much regretted it as soon as he made it and I feel had it happened again he wouldn't allow himself to be stopped.
Oh definitely.
Spoiler:
What didn't help the scene though is Superman going through his teen hormone rampages right before his dad is killed by saying he's not really his dad, just some guy who found him in a field, yadda yadda. It made me dislike him even if I know that what happened there helped mold him into the hero he was supposed to be. That's just not Superman to me.

What'd you think of Crowe by the way?
Spoiler:
He was young and made a mistake that cost him a lot and he regretted his whole life.I feel like Goyer and Snyder wanted us to think/feel this Superman had flaws and was human. Adopted kids doing stuff like that is very natural. I felt it was ok...Now...Johnatan getting killed for being a dumbass....well that was just plain stupid.
Crowe was literally stealing the show. I told my cousin they should have named it "Gladiator of Steel: Jor-El the Man of Tomorrow"

I can agree with that. Not to be cruel but
Spoiler:

You know what? Watching House of Cards makes me mad about Singer and whoever wrote the script for SR. Kevin Spicey is an excellent actor and he could have done an amazing Luthor if he was given something to work with instead of just having to play hackman playing campy 80s Luthor. [/B]
House of Cards is like "The Wire" of political intrigue type series. It's excellent.

So you think that 4000 kelvin is enough to incinerate the planet's atmosphere and kill all life on Earth?Because that is what Johnny's "supernova" would have done, had it been unshielded by Sue.
And IIRC it was Reed who gave all those explanations, not Sue.
Not to mention that since this is based on comics, it's not that far-fetched at all as comic book Johnny has comfortably reached Nova temperatures before.
I just watched the film, it was Sue who gave those explanations. And I quoted her verbatim. Reed commented on the fact that Johnny could kill himself and ignite the atmosphere killing all life on Earth after Sue compared his possible supernova temperature to the Sun.
In our world temperatures slightly higher than 4,000 Kelvin is not going to automatically incinerate the atmosphere. In the fantastic four movie verse directed by Tim Story apparently its a possibility 🤪
In the comics Johnny could generate those supernova temperatures but this is a movie adaptation. I judge them separately.
Thing in the movie for instance was not as strong as his counterpart in the comics struggling to lift a mere fire truck in the 1st movie. The 2nd movie was better at portraying his strength with lifting the London Eye, with help from Sue's invisible force fields. Though comic book Thing has feats beyond anything he did in either movie and I wouldn't hesitate to think he was stronger and tougher than his movie counterpart.

After Jor-El beat the crap out of Zod, I said somewhat loudly in the theatre,
😆 nice
That did bother me somewhat though
Spoiler:
General Zod is supposed to be the best General on Krypton. Training everyday to be the best warrior he can be yet he loses to both Jor-El and KAl-El in fights. Didn't make sense to me.

Agreed.
Spoiler:
Loosing to Kal made some sense to me as Zod didn't have as much training with his powers as Clark. But him losing to Jor-El left me scratching my head.

uhuhYou don't **** with Russell Crowe.
But it wasn't russel crowe it was Russel Crowe playing Jor-El 😛
Spoiler:
Yeah losing to Kal-el wasn't as bad because I could also say well Kal is special in that he is a natural birth plus he had the codex in his cells which could have made him stronger but even then it was some what of a stretch. Jor-El was definitely out there though.
Jor-El was supposed to be a nerdy *****...but then Crowe's love for fighting took over
