yes exactly. say amalgam A is in ice form as body. and has bobbys flame form and pyro abilities as his power. i was under the assumption that the two opposing abilities would work within tandem of each other since its housed by one character. negating both powersets natural limitations
i guess he can't be melted if he had pyro/HT's power over heat, but he doesn't possess the power to eliminate heat or reform after destruction as iceman does

The venom symbiote and current blue beetle's suits don't function for mind-picks since they're basically grafted to the host's body.
Iceman's powers are not derived from his body in that sense. They're derived from his x-gene, but that's a whoooole can of worm we're dodging, unless you somehow had a pick who could activate that 😉
Picking Colossus' body makes sense because he has a high durability as a passive trait.
Picking Iceman's body would be pointless since reforming is not a passive trait.

From what I understood Sandman's body will reconstitute itself, Iceman needs to mentally make an effort.
no charlotte is right they are essentially one and the same. iceman was just never destroyed as easily due to the durability of his ice form. essentially all elementals in marvel are simply psionic beings in a shell casing. sorta like chamber. its just a housing for his true form. sandman is different as parker was able to isolate his consciousness to a single grain of sand. i consider it pis though considering his history
Not completely true. BOTH have to have intact consciousness to reconstitute themselves. So either you allow Iceman's reconstitution or disallow Samdman's. BTW, in previous tourney they both (along with Metamorpho) were banned due to "beyond killability limit" since they can reconstitute themselves as long as there's moisture/sand/etc around.
