Indeed. With drafts so smushed together, I'd hope that even if the Powers draft starts, we can continue debates on these guy for another day or so, and allow redrafts as needed if anyone is disallowed. I love that we keep pushing forward with this - it's refreshing - but KMC doesn't always operate at such high-paced speeds. Debate over DA didn't start until today, so I've literally just had time in between tasks at work to toss a stray word or two in my defense.

On the DA feat Id posted: There is indeed context aplenty (and was from Mys-tech Wars, as I remembered). I don't expect you to take my word for it, but I'm compiling the scans now, with multiple references that should drive the point home. DA was able to channel the power of the Mys-tech created UnEarth to accomplish that feat, due to the nature of her suit's creation. UnEarth was essentially a unique energy source that gave her a temporary power boost.

That alone doesn't explain how she can still channel it. But there's more. Within pages, her link to the UnEarth diminishes and she's back to normal, and at the end of the issue, to do the same thing she did earlier, they have find a specific device that allows them to manipulate UnEarth to prevent the universe from collapsing. So she was unable to replicate the feat mere pages later. It is NOT a permanent power, or indicative of her general potential.

For what it's worth, as the universe collapsed, they also explicitly played dice with peoples' power levels in that arc anyway. For example, Thor is killed by gunfire and everyone's like "the f*ck?!" and similar stuff happens. Fluctuations all over the place. Not useful for, well, anything in a vs. sense.

Sauce being delivered sometime tonight. The gf is supposed to stop by soon, so hopefully it's a matter of minutes, not hours. I'm also scanning in the stuff that proves her suit and powers are the same.

Notes:
The key is the very first scan. The entity that gives her the suit calls it a piece of the fabric of the universe, and says "It holds the power of the angels..." The power is in the suit, not Shevaun, who was entirely human before this visitation.

Not to be the bad guy, but those scans are telling me that her body was changed.

Specifically: "The molecules of infinity encode with the molecules of her very being....her body as she knew it is no more."

She wears armor above her body, which would be fair play, imo, but I doubt that's why you got her.

The Earth absorption feat

Context: UnEarth is basically an energy source, created by the Mys-tech corporation (Dark Angel's primary villains). We'll see this proven a couple times in the following scans. Essentially, Dark Angel did what she did with the aid of a universal energy source.

Note that the first scan says she's able to draw strength from it. The power is not entirely her own. Also notice how she looks like she's being attacked in the 1st scan. That's the UnEarth's powering channeling into her involuntarily.

Later, to replicate the feat, they have to collectively draw power from the same source (UnEarth) to lock it away forever.

Note that in the 2nd scan there, Dark Angel instructs them to "receive the UnEarth's input," and to focus and channel it, suggesting the UnEarth is directly amplifying their efforts.

And finally, we see the UnEarth locked away from Mys-tech, suggesting that it could be used for further evil. If the UnEarth itself wasn't such a source of power, it wouldn't be so potent or dangerous.

Note that in the final scan, Dark Angel mentions a symbiotic link to an energy cloak while they were on UnEarth. I'm sure exactly what she's referring to there, but it's clear all or most of the issue wasn't entirely under her own power.

Long story short, I really don't think it's a base level feat. Her next best absorption feat involves an energy blast that's only big enough to destroy a house-sized building. We won't see anything like it in the tourney. It's an aberration, and shouldn't be counted to ban her.

There's already been WAY too much scrutiny on Shevaun, but I realize it was necessary. I will be pushing the limits but not trampling on them with her, and hope I can use her.

Powers means inherent, yeah? Someone gave her a mystical fabric and a suit and it gave her powers. Sounds like standard equipment to me, no? The fabric has the power, direct statement. That's my take anyway.

Not to me. I just see the fabric as being a body pick and not equipment, but I don't really mind the character. Just pointing out what I see as a technicality. The actual UnEarth feat doesn't bother me - that's an external powersource. If no one else minds, I don't either.

well I would have thought so. I had a quick scan through that rspect thread and talk aboun some out of context feats. Some of that I'm not familiar with some is Arion being fed power by other sources than he'd normally have ( as in Mordru in his body, let's face it Mordru is trans so DUH)

anyhow I'm fine with either. With Vic Sage what I loose in magical attack power i gain in TP and influence. I am however going to have to change who I had chosen for power pick. I was planing to use Will Everett the original Amazingman ( not the grandson with power duplication ). would anyone have a problem if my power pick was Nightshade ?

I see your point, but it's an odd line imo, because the "equipment" makes the whole deal happen, even if the line blurs once it's implemented.

Well, hopefully I've allayed fears about DA. If not, just let me know. It won't drastically affect my plans, but it'll help me get the right scans together quickly. Anyway, thanks.

Lol, good to know. PG did well to confuse and fluster me for a bit. But my list of potential draftees is eclectic enough that there isn't really a discernible pattern. And I certainly didn't have an insta-plug-in for Dark Angel (though her backup was a cool pick too, and probably not as controversial).

It's not the hardest thing in the world to match the drafts so far to drafters, if you've been paying attention to everything. I could probably do it at about 75% accuracy. And I'm sure plenty could do so for me, since I've gifted you knowledge of one of two so far. But that's not the same as predicting future drafts.

I asked when it would be the most convenient for you to do the power draft 🙂
