👆 Not bad. It also ensures a minimum of two matches, which is a plus imo.

{edit} the link changed. It's only showing bracket 1 of 2 now.

lol, relax. I'm just pedantic with tourney setup, and trying to maintain fairness. Fear is a laughable concept with these things anyway. If they were anything but fun, I'd be judging instead.

Now, do you have match setup ideas?

that looks better than the last one

Which actually raises a good question...will we know complete amalgams before our first match? Or are we flying blind in match #1? I'd prefer the former, but I suppose the fog of war effect (so to speak) will affect everyone to some extent, so there won't be massive advantages either way.

But like, we know both of beatboks' picks. It's his first tourney so he's fighting enough of an uphill battle. Flying blind would certainly be a disservice to him. And to others who have 1-2 picks that are obvious and/or known through discussion here. I don't care a ton personally, but given the right/wrong matchup, it could bite anyone.

thanks for the concern but it's cool. might be a newbee here but I'm a tourney vet of several other sites. My schtick is usually going with more obscure character because i know them better than most. for example in what other sites would call street level but is low meta here I use the likes of Argus, Mark Shaw manhunter, Justice from Marvel New Universe ( well it's not so new anymore, Hmmm that gives me another thought for here). for higher tiers almost always a mix of JSA, infinity inc, All star Squadron, Doom Patrol, Defenders and heroes for hire and West coast Avengers.

I will say the way tourneys seem to be run here is very different to what I'm used to. the normal way I've played is simply that the tourney master sets up a scenario / guidelines and a draw. the participants make their case( strategies and counters to them etc) then the thread is opened to votes by all and sundy. one with the most votes wins. So I'm looking forward to participating the way you guys play. I may need some guidance though

It'll be a learning process, despite your experience on other sites. There may be some bumps. But yeah, good luck. I can't say I'm hoping for you to get Arion, but I do hope you end up with some picks you're happy with.

After seeing Digi's explanation I'll withdraw my objection to Dark Angel. As for Mind/Body it seems it's the same tricky thing like Zachary Zatara being legible as both Mind and Powers pick depending on how one sees his abilities.

So, is power draft open yet?

I'm thinking Wednesday at 2 PM GMT+0.

Arion is the last character still up for debate from what I understand.

Aquaman and Dark Angel are a-ok.

why is there still debaate I already said about 4 times swap him out for Vic Sage

It Still gives me a trained fighter (By R dragon no less and has done OK bs Shiva once)

Still allows me illusions (Courtesy of Shaman learnings)
still gives me the ability to gain knowledge ( just by talking to spirits instead of eye of Ra spell)
I loose intangibility, element contol, blasts and shields but gain better by far TP feats ( its a learned tp ability by his spirit walk)

I'll update the mind thread.

Cool, Cool.

For the record Arion isn't over ( which now that I'm home I'll show in detain on the battle thread where he is mega outmatched by Adam warlock. Since however I'm clearly going to have the weakest character by far, mine has to be all about angles I play.

Now i have been known to get it wrong from time to time on power levels due to an old man's poor memory( that's not the case here, I only re-read two runs of Arion a month or so ago), but when I do I've got more than enough class not to take that advantage as per http://www.comicvine.com/forums/battles-7/ps-r1-beatboks1-vs-theorder14-voting-1471617/?messageId=9869246#js-message-21
( while a huge DP fan I hadn't read the original run in ages when I pulled it out to play that one)

If anyone is interested ( to alleviate any concerns for future tourneys pick - since I love me some magic characters both DC and marvel) I've just finished the post i started on the Adam Warlock vs Arion thread in the vs forum that I think should define utterly Arion's power level ( with the right context to showings he has above his pat grade that choosing him should NOT grant).

ah, extremis is an interesting choice, if that is what was drafted..... if it's classic tony, i don't have any real problem with it, despite his upward move.

i do have a question (maybe answered already...) but i recall 30sec of prep time, correct? but i don't recall WHERE the prep time is supposed to take place. anyone know?

its me not my brother playing

doesnt ultimo grow in size

and does anyone have any more info on qubit....?

Leo, what do you mean "where" does it take place?

Quibit's from Irredeemable. Genius technopath .

technopath like hank henshaw style, or more like forge? and by where does the prep time take place, i mean....do we get to choose where we are for the prep time and are brought to the battlefield, or are we on the battlefield for 30sec then the match starts? ie--is tony stark going to have 30secs in his lab if he wants? we have 3 characters--do we choose which of the 3 we want to use for a prep base for the 30sec? location of prep is extremely important.

Think I've mentioned this before but you get access to all of your mind-character's items, unless there's a reason why you wouldn't have it.

Where? Mind character's home I guess.
