Yeah, if you are happy with the phone you currently have why upgrade. I disagree on Apple being 2 years behind Samsung. If anything I'd say they are chip-wise ahead by a year now. But to be fair it comes down to priorities as well, Samsung values different features to Apple. Personally Samsung would probably be the last phone maker I'd buy a phone from now. Apple's my favourite of course, but in Android phones I'd get a Motorola, HTC or LG before a Samsung definitely. Tbh, I'd probably get a Lumia before any of Samsung's offerings.
