Cap passes Man of Steel by 11 million dollars world wide.

Why are you surprised? Superman is (has been) more popular to the general audience than any of those marvel heroes.
Even if a sub par movie is released featuring superman or batman, the general audience will still see it and it will make money.
IMO- Dark knight rises , and MOS were sub par. General audience still ate them up.

Spider-Man got 92 M this weekend and will finish even lower than Cap domestically. Looks like there is a little fatigue in the franchise. That or people aren't all that crazy with how the reboot is going.
Nah, I think there's a good number of people who are fatigued of bad comic book movies in general. Cap is doing some much better because of the hype from Avengers, word of mouth, and critic acclaim. Thor 2 just sucked and wasn't Iron Man is probably why Cap beat it. Had Thor 2 been almost as good as Cap 2, I think it do a lot better. Cap 2 is running on good word of mouth by this point.

Superman still has more die hard fans (some who don't even read comics). Was there ever a year when Superman didn't have a movie or on going TV show in the last two decades?

Probably fatigue. They ideally needed to wait a few more years for the reboot bit couldn't due to the rights issue.
However I feel this series is far superior to the Ramai series in terms of plot, characterisation and overall direction is going. Just think the general audience were not ready for an immediate reboot.
